The Eagles and Giants meet for the 177th time Sunday afternoon in New Jersey but for the first time in a while for big stakes. Philadelphia is trying to secure the top seed for the upcoming NFC playoffs, while New York is questing for its first playoff berth in six seasons. Philly is favored by a touchdown on the road here, but QB Jalen Hurts lost his only previous match-up against Giants QB Daniel Jones last season. Who do we like here for our free NFL betting pick?

Eagles Betting Preview

Philadelphia rides a three-game winning streak into Sunday after disposing of Tennessee at home last Sunday 35-10. The Eagles, favored by five points, drove the opening possession of the game 75 yards to a touchdown and led 21-10 at the half. Philly then drove its first possession of the second half 50 yards to another touchdown and blanked the Titans from there to secure the victory and the cover. The Eagles out-gained Tennessee 453-209, held Titans RB Henry to 30 yards on 11 carries and won the time of possession by a 33:27 split. Philadelphia has now out-gained five of its last six opponents, the last two by huge numbers. Two weeks ago, the Eagles ran the ball for a ridiculous 363 yards against Green Bay and won 40-33. Three weeks ago, Philly got outplayed at Indianapolis but came from behind in the fourth quarter to win 17-16. At 11-1 overall, the Eagles lead 10-2 Minnesota by a game and a tie-breaker in the battle for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NFC playoffs.

Giants Betting Preview

New York, meanwhile, is just 1-3-1 over its last five games after tying Washington last Sunday 20-20. The Giants spotted the 'Skins - err, the Commanders the first 10 points of the game but rallied to a 13-13 tie into the half. New York took a 20-13 lead early in the third quarter but came up empty offensively from there. The Giants allowed Washington to drive 90 yards to the tying score with just under two minutes to go, and neither team could hit the board in OT, creating the second tie in the NFL this season. But New York covered the spread as a 2.5-point home dog. The Giants got out-gained by Washington 411-316, out-rushed 165-134, and lost time of possession by a 41:29 split. And yet they came away with a tie and the money. New York has now been out-gained by six of its last seven opponents and out-rushed by four of its last five foes. Two games ago the Giants led at Dallas 13-7 at the half but lost 28-20. Three games ago, New York played a stinker of a game and lost at home to Detroit 31-18. But at 7-4-1 overall, the Giants sit in the No. 6 spot in the NFC playoff standings, a half-game ahead of Seattle and Washington. These two teams have played seven common opponents so far this season; the Titans, Cowboys, Packers, Texans, Jaguars, Commanders, and Lions. Philadelphia played those foes to 7-1 SU, 5-3 ATS, and +95 yards per game, New York to 4-3-1 SU, 6-2 ATS but -20 YPG.
