The last remaining undefeated team in the League takes its show on the road to play a one-win outfit when the Eagles meet the Texans in Houston for this week's edition of Thursday night NFL betting action. The Eagles are off to their best start to a season in almost 20 years. The Texans, on the other hand, are actually playing below expectations, and those expectations were low, to begin with.

Philly's favored by two touchdowns on the road for Thursday night. How are we playing this game with our free NFL betting pick?

NFL Betting Lines

The Week 9 NFL betting odds opened the Eagles as 13-point road favorites for Thursday night, with an over/under of right around 44. Early betting action bumped that total to 45, and some late action has driven the spread to -13.5.

Eagles-Texans NFL Betting Preview

Philadelphia is 7-0 for the first time in 2004, one of its Super Bowl seasons, after disposing of Pittsburgh last week 35-13. The Eagles scored touchdowns on their first three possessions of the game - all Jalen Hurts scoring connections to AJ Brown - and led 21-10 at the half. Philadelphia then scored on another Hurts TD pass on the first possession of the second half and eased home from there for the win and the cover at -11.

The Eagles out-gained the Steelers 401-300 and won the turnover battle 2-0.

Philadelphia has now out-gained five of its seven opponents this season and out-rushed five of seven foes. The Eagles have also led each of their seven games, at one point or another, by double-digits.

At 7-0 overall, Philadelphia leads the NFC by a game and a head-to-head tie-breaker over 6-1 Minnesota.

Also, the Eagles only need three more wins over their last ten games to play over their season wins over/under, which was 9.5.

Houston, meanwhile, is 0-2, both SU and ATS, over its last two games after losing at home to Tennessee last week 17-10. The Texans scored the first three points of the game but trailed 7-3 at the half. Houston then gave up the first 10 points of the second half and didn't get back to within one score until 17 seconds remained, on its way toward defeat.

The Texans also came up empty ATS as one-point home dogs.

Houston got out-gained by the Titans 354-161, allowed 314 yards on the ground, and didn't muster 100 yards of offense itself until late in the fourth quarter.

The Texans have now been out-gained by six of their seven opponents this season and out-rushed by six of seven foes.

At 1-5-1 overall, Houston still needs four more wins over its last ten games to play over its season wins O/U, which was 4.5. And that just doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

These two teams have played one common opponent so far this season; Philadelphia beat Jacksonville one month ago 29-21 and out-gained the Jaguars by 182 yards, while the Texans beat the Jags the following week 13-6 but got out-gained by 174 yards. Yeah, it's a small sample, but that's a difference of 356 yards.

Eagles-Texans History

These teams don't meet too often, five times previously overall, Philadelphia winning all five meetings. Most recently, four seasons ago, the Eagles, 7-7 at the time, beat what was then a 10-4 Houston team 32-30 in Philly. But that was coaches and quarterbacks ago for both teams.
Philadelphia at Houston Prediction ATS 11/3/22

Philadelphia ranks No. 3 in the League in total offense and No. 3 in total defense; Houston ranks No. 31 and No 30. Hurts is playing great ball and the Eagles are out-rushing opponents by 35 yards per game. The Texans barely managed 100 yards of offense last week and got the ball shoved down their throats on defense. Double-digits can be lot to deal with in the NFL but this looks like a real mismatch. We’re giving the points with Philly.
