Two teams who started great this season but are struggling as of late meet when the Cowboys visit the Saints for this week's edition of Thursday night NFL football betting action. Dallas started 6-1 this season but is 1-3 since; New Orleans started 5-2 but is 0-4 since. But both teams are still alive in the NFC playoff picture.

The Pokes are lined as favorites on the road for this one. How are we playing this game with our free NFL betting pick?

NFL Betting Lines

The Week 13 NFL betting odds opened Dallas as a five-point road favorite for Thursday night, with an over/under of right around 48. Early betting action then dipped the Cowboys to -4.5.

Cowboys Betting Preview

Dallas is just 1-3 both SU and ATS over its last four games after losing at home to Las Vegas Thanksgiving night 36-33 in overtime. The Cowboys, favored by seven points, fell behind to the Raiders 7-0 three minutes into the game and never led. Dallas trailed 17-13 at the half and 24-13 in the third quarter but rallied to tie it at 33-33 with 19 seconds left. The Cowboys then lost the game in OT on an empty possession, some defensive penalties, and a LV field goal.

Dallas got out-gained by Las Vegas 509-437, out-rushed 143-64, and lost time of possession by a 39:27 split.

The Cowboys have now been out-gained by three of their last four opponents and out-rushed by four of their last five foes.

At 7-4 overall, Dallas still leads the NFC East by two games over second-place Washington, which has won three games in a row. And the Cowboys have a couple of games with the 'Skins coming up. So Dallas better get its act together quickly.

Saints Betting Preview

New Orleans, meanwhile, lugs a four-game losing skid into Thursday night after falling at home to Buffalo Thanksgiving Day 31-6. The short-handed Saints fell behind to the Bills 7-0 eight minutes in and trailed 24-0 at the half. They then gave little fight from there and totally whiffed against the spread as seven-point home dogs.

New Orleans got out-gained by Buffalo 361-190, out-rushed 113-44, and lost time of possession by a 35:25 split.

So since starting this season 5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS with Jameis Winston at QB, the Saints are 0-4 SU, 1-3 without him.

At 5-6 overall, New Orleans trails division-leading Tampa Bay by three games in the NFC South, but it's also actually tied with Washington, Minnesota, and Atlanta in the battle for the seventh NFC playoff spot. And a conference win would really help the Saints in the tie-breakers.

These two teams last met two seasons ago, a 12-10 New Orleans home victory. But that was a quarterback ago for the Saints and a coach ago for Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints Prediction ATS 12/2/21

Despite the recent poor play and casualty lists for both teams, Dallas is just the better team in this match-up. Also, it looks like New Orleans is down to its 3rd-string quarterback. Plus, we expect the Cowboys to recover from this 1-3 stretch to go on and win the NFC East while our prognosis for the Saints isn't nearly as encouraging. We'll take the Cowboys minus the points.
