Chicago lugs a three-game losing skid into Monday night after falling at home to Washington last Thursday 12-7. The Bears trailed the Commanders 3-0 at the half but scored the first seven points of the second half and led 7-6 midway through the fourth quarter. But a muffed punt led to a Washington touchdown. Chicago then drove late to the Commanders’ 5-yard line, but four plays came up inches short of the goal line in another losing performance. The Bears out-gained Washington 392-214, ran the ball for 237 yards and won the time of possession by a 32:28 split. But Chicago came up completely scoreless on three 1st-and-goal situations inside the Commanders’ 10-yard line, which cost them the game. Two weeks ago, Chicago fell down to Minnesota 21-3, rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter but lost 29-22. Three weeks ago, the Bears managed just four field goals in a 20-12 loss to the Giants. Chicago’s also been out-gained and out-rushed by four of its six opponents this season. At 2-4 overall, the Bears are already three games behind first-place Minnesota in the NFC North. New England, meanwhile, is 3-3 on the season after winning at Cleveland last Sunday 38-15. The Patriots, with rookie Bailey Zappe playing QB in place of the injured Mac Jones, scored the first three points of the game and led 10-6 at the half. New England then scored the first 14 points of the second half to go up three scores and later tacked on a couple of touchdowns to secure the victory. The Patriots out-gained the Browns 399-328, held the Cleveland ground game, one of the best in the League, to just 70 yards, dominated time of possession by a 35:25 split, and won the turnover battle 4-1, creating a +17 points differential. Two weeks ago, New England blanked Detroit 29-0. So the Patriots are 2-0 in both SU and ATS, with Zappe as the starter. The Patriots also nearly beat Green Bay when he relieved injured backup Brian Hoyer three weeks ago. New England has also out-gained four of its last five opponents and out-rushed four of its six foes this season. At 3-3 overall, the Patriots bring up the rear in the AFC East even though they own the second-best points differential in the division.

Bears-Patriots Recent History

These teams don’t meet too often, just 13 times overall, most notably in that Chicago Super Bowl romp back in 1986. Since then, New England is 8-1 against the Bears. Most recently, four seasons ago, the Patriots won a crazy game at Chicago 38-31. Some guy named Brady threw three touchdown passes that day for New England, while Mitch Trubisky accounted for three scores for the Bears. Neither of those guys will play a part in Foxboro Monday night.

Bears at Patriots Prediction ATS 10/24/22

Reports indicate New England will go with Jones at QB Monday night, although they might be better with Zappe. The Patriots just beat the Lions and Browns by a combined score of 67-15, and the Bears are no better than either of those teams. New England also owns the much better run defense in this match-up. Meanwhile, Chicago’s scored five offensive touchdowns over its last five games, and QB Justin Fields, who the Bears rely on for so much, got the snot knocked out of him last week. That’s what happens to running QBs in the NFL. Plus, Belichick’s going for the wins record Monday night. We’re giving the points here with the Patriots.
