The ACC offers up a good game to watch and bet Monday night when Miami meets North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Hurricanes are only a whiff out of first place in the ACC, while the Tar Heels could use a few wins to enhance their NCAA tournament resume. North Carolina is also favored by a couple of buckets for this one. Which way are we going here for our free college basketball betting pick?

The Hurricanes ride a four-game winning streak into Monday night after holding off Louisville Saturday 93-85. Miami, favored by 20 points at home against the worst team in the ACC, scored the first 10 points of the game but only led 42-41 at the half. The ‘Canes led throughout the second half but could never pull away and came nowhere close to covering that spread. Miami shot 53 percent from the floor Saturday but allowed the Cardinals to shoot 58 percent! But the Hurricanes also won the turnover battle 12-6, and that’s basically what decided the game. Two games ago, Miami blew out Duke 81-59 and covered at -3. Three games ago, the ‘Canes won at Clemson, which is pretty good this season, 78-74. And four games ago, they beat Virginia Tech 92-83 and covered at -4. At 11-4 in conference play, Miami sits in third place in the ACC, just a half-game back of Virginia and Pitt. And at 20-5 overall, the Hurricanes appear well on their way back to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels just snapped a three-game losing skid with a 91-71 romp over Clemson Saturday. North Carolina trailed by a point 10 minutes in but spurted to a 42-33 halftime lead. The Heels then pulled away in the second half, leading at one point by 25, on their way toward a much-needed victory. North Carolina shot 48 percent from the floor Saturday and hit 15/33 from 3-point land. Two games ago, the Tar Heels lost at Wake Forest 92-85. Three games ago, they lost at Duke 63-57. And four games ago, they lost at home to Pitt 65-64. So while North Carolina lost three straight games, they came against some good competition. At 8-6 in conference play, the Tar Heels are tied for seventh place in the ACC, three games out of first. But more importantly, at 16-9, overall North Carolina sits on the NCAA tournament bubble, with some work yet to do.

Miami at UNC Free Pick ATS 2/13/23

Miami beat Duke last week, then struggled with a bad Louisville team Saturday, allowing the Cardinals to shoot 58 percent from the field. We expect a better defensive performance from the Hurricanes Monday night. On the other side of this match-up, North Carolina hit 15/33 from 3-point range Saturday against Clemson. We’re doubtful the Heels can shoot like that again here. This one should be close, and we like the idea of a couple of buckets in our pocket. We like Miami, plus the points.
