Last Saturday night at Kansas Speedway, Martin Truex Jr. became the third driver this season to win multiple point races with a victory in the Go Bowling 400. Brad Keselowski finished second and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top three. I had Chase Elliott at +1000 betting odds as my top-valued contender in that race, but a long night on the track dropped him to 29th in the final running order.

The following is a look at a few of the top favorites to win the 2017 All-Star Race along with my top value pick based on odds provided by 5Dimes.

<p>
On the heels of last week’s victory at Kansas, Martin Truex Jr. heads to the top of the betting odds list this week as a +600 favorite to win Saturday night’s All-Star exhibition. He has really come into his own this season behind the wheel of the No. 78 Toyota with two victories and five additional runs inside the top 10 in his first 11 point-race events of the season. His other trip to the Winner’s Circle was in Las Vegas and he also ended up in the top five at Fontana with a fourth-place run. His past track record in this race includes a second-place finish in 2010, but he has not cracked the top 10 in his previous two All-Star Race appearances.

Kyle Busch is still looking for his first point race victory of the season, but maybe he can break the ice in this non-point event as one of four drivers listed at +700 odds to win. The No. 18 Toyota has come close a few times this season with four finishes inside the top five including a second-place run at Martinsville and more recently a third-place run at Talladega. He ended up fifth in last Saturday night’s race at Kansas. As far as his recent performance in this event, Busch has been in the top 10 in three of his last four appearances, but he has yet to ever win an All-Star Race.

Joining Busch at +700 betting odds is another high-profile Cup Series driver that has also been shutout through the first 11 points races this year. Kevin Harvick has still been able to guide his No. 4 Chevrolet to sixth-place in the current standings with a total of 347 points and he has worked his way into the top five in four races including last week at Kansas to keep this team moving in the right direction. His only career victory in this event was back in 2007 when it was still known as the Nextel All-Star Challenge. More recently, Harvick finished 11th in last season’s All-Star Race after posting a pair of second-place runs in 2014 and 2015.

Monster Energy All Star Race Prediction

Stretching the odds a bit in this exhibition event, I am going with Matt Kenseth at +1500 odds as my top-valued pick to win. His No. 20 Toyota racing team is currently on the outside looking in as far as this season’s playoffs in 18th place in the standings, but it is only a matter of time before it turns things around with a victory in a point race. Last year’s run in this race was forgettable with an 18th-place finish, but prior to that Kenseth had not finished out of the top 10 in his previous nine All-Star events.
