Pitching Match Up<br />
</h5>
<p>
Detroit: Matt Boyd (4-2, 3.93 ERA) Minnesota: Tyler Duffey (8-9, 5.93 ERA)
</p>
<p>
Matt Boyd goes for the Tigers tonight and in his last outing he had a good one only giving up one earned run in six innings in a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox. Detroit has won his last four starts and in his last two starts he has only given up one earned run. Boyd faced the Twins in mid July and pitched six scoreless innings in a 1-0 Detroit win, which was his first of the season. The Tigers are 2-9 in Boyd’s last 11 road starts.
</p>
<p>
Tyler Duffey gets the call for the Twins and in his last outing he was lit up for five earned runs in only three innings in an 8-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Minnesota had won his previous three starts. Duffy faced the Tigers in his 2nd start of the season and was not sharp giving up four earned runs in six innings in a 4-1 Twins loss. The Twins are 5-1 in Duffey’s last six home starts and they have won eight of their last 11 games overall with him on the hill.

Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction

It’s not like the Tigers are hot losers of five of their last ten games, but the five losses did come against arguably the two hottest teams in the AL. The Twins lost four straight to the sizzling before losing last night, so come into this game losers of five consecutive matches. They took the opener last night and look in line to take tonight’s game. They have a large edge in starting pitching with lefty Matt Boyd a superior option to Tyler Duffey. Boyd pitched six shutout innings against the Twins back in July and comes into this game allowing three or fewer runs in his last seven starts. Duffey pitched well in his start against the Tigers back in April, but he’s been very inconsistent this season and brings a 4-4 home record with a 6.67 ERA to the mound. The Twins have dropped five straight being outscored 33-9 and this game has number six written all over it.
