Florida and Utah played a fun game down at The Swamp to begin last season, and they'll open this season with a rematch Thursday night in Salt Lake City. The Gators are looking to bounce back after going 6-7 last year, while the Utes are questing for their third straight campaign of at least ten wins.

How are we playing this game with our free college football betting pick?

College Football Betting Odds

The college football betting market opened Utah as an eight-point favorite over Florida, with an over/under of right around 48. Early betting action then dipped both the Utes to -5.5 and that total to 46.

Florida-Utah College Football Betting Preview

The Gators only return ten starters this season from a team that played 6-7 last year. Florida started last season 6-4, with a win over this Utah team, but lost its last three games, including a 30-3 decision to Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Five starters are back on offense for the Gators, only two along the offensive line. They're also breaking in a new starting quarterback after losing talented Anthony Richardson to the pros. And only five starters are back from a defense that allowed 411 yards per game last year.

Ranking low on the returning starters charts and going against one of the toughest schedules in the country, Florida is playing against a "team wins" over/under this season of 5.5.

Utah, meanwhile, returns 16 starters from a team that played 10-4 last year and won the PAC-12 for the second straight season. The Utes opened last year with a tough loss to this Gators team at The Swamp and later lost close games to UCLA and Oregon. But they snuck into the PAC-12 championship game and buried USC 47-24 before losing the Rose Bowl to Penn State.

Seven starters are back on offense for Utah, including QB Cam Rising (18-6 SU, 15-9 ATS as the starter here) and three along the offensive line. And nine starters are back on a defense that limited opponents to 334 YPG last season.

With one of the most experienced teams in the PAC-12 and seven home games, the Utes are playing against a wins O/U this season of 8.5.

Florida-Utah Recent History

These teams just met back in Week 1 of last season, an exciting 29-26 Florida victory in Gainesville. The Gators, lined as short home dogs, trailed Utah 7-0 early and 26-22 late, then took the lead with a touchdown with just over a minute to go. Florida then allowed the Utes to drive the last gasp deep inside the Gators red zone but secured the W with an interception.

That game exceeded the total of 51, as the teams combined for nearly 900 yards of total offense.

College Football Betting Trends

The SEC went 3-1 in both SU and ATS vs. the PAC-12 last season.

Utah is 26-2 SU and 18-10 ATS at home over the last five seasons.

Florida is 4-5 SU and 1-8 ATS on the road the last two seasons.

Totals Report

The overs played 7-6 in Gators games last season, which averaged 58 total points.

The overs played 8-6 in Utes games last year, which averaged 60 points.

Gators at Utes Pick Against the Spread

To begin, Utah QB Rising is listed as questionable for Thursday night as he continues to rehab from a torn knee suffered in last year's Rose Bowl. Our guess is he'll play, but bettors may want to consult later injury reports before getting down on this game. Last year's meeting between these teams played very close; at the moment, we believe the Utes are a better team than they were that day, while Florida probably isn't. Utah also owns the better defense. And the line moved in our favor. We're giving the points with the Utes on Thursday night.
