<strong>Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech Game Overview</strong>
</p>
<p>
The Hokies are looking to end the season on a strong note coming off last week's bye. They are just 4-5 on the year both straight-up and against the spread with a 2-3 record in conference play. Their last time out on Oct. 31, they did get past Boston College 26-10 as three-point road favorites. The total stayed UNDER the 36.5-point closing line and it has stayed UNDER in four of the previous five games.
</p>
<p>
While Virginia Tech has been well balanced on offense between the pass and the run, it has not been all that effective at moving the ball down the field with an average of just 373.3 total yards per game. The Hokies are ranked 56th in the nation in scoring with 30 points a game, but they have also had some issues on the other side of the ball with a defense that is allowing an average of 24.3 points. In four of its five losses this season, Virginia Tech has given-up 30 points or more.

<p>
The memory of the Yellow Jackets' fast 2-0 start has faded into a nightmare of just one SU win in their last seven games. That lone win was a stunning 22-16 upset against Florida State as a five-point home underdog on Oct. 24, but Georgia Tech went into last week's bye fresh off one of its worst losses on the year in a 27-21 setback against Virginia as a four-point road favorite. The total stayed UNDER in both of those contests.
</p>
<p>
The one thing that the Yellow Jackets have done well all season long is run the ball. They are ranked eighth in the nation in rushing yards per game (267.2) with four different players tallying at least 300 yards on the year. Freshman Marcus Marshall has been the most effective runner with a team-high 526 yards and a per carry average of 8.2 yards an attempt. Quarterback Justin Thomas is second on the team in rushing with 418 yards on 117 carries.

Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech Point Spread Pick

The underdog has been a solid bet in this matchup and I like the Hokies chances to keep this trend going in Saturday's game with the extra half-point on the current spread. I also like the UNDER in this game as long as it opens around 41 or 42. Neither of these teams have been playing all that well this season on offense and things should remain tight right down to the wire in a three-point game either way.
