Both Poland and Colombia suffered unexpected losses in their respective World Cup openers. Now the qualification chase turns into a sprint for both teams, as they are both left behind as it is. Poland and Colombia will now lock horns on Sunday, in what is the pivotal match in the group. Anything other than a win for either side would make things terribly difficult regarding the qualification. With the quality that these two sides have on the offensive end, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a lot of goals in this game.

Poland was not very careful in their match against Senegal and, in fact, terrible in the first half. The whole first half was pretty awful actually, as neither side managed to record a single shot on target. However, Poland ran out of luck at the 37th minute, when they saw Cionek score an own goal. Poland somewhat woke up in the second half and was greatly improved. However, just as they were trying to come back to the match, Senegal scored another goal at the 60th minute with Niang. All Poland could do at that point was to score nothing more than a consolation goal at the 86th minute with Krychowiak. That match clearly showed that if forward Robert Lewandowski is contained, Poland has a serious problem in scoring goals.

On the other hand, Colombia is also coming off a bad loss in the opener, when they fell against Japan by 2-1. They were unlucky in the starting moments of the match, as midfielder Carlos Sanchez had to take one for the team. After a nice Japanese attack, the Colombian defense was left in shambles. Carlos Sanchez had to deflect the ball with his hand in order to avoid conceding an early goal. However, he was sent off at just the 3rd minute, and Japan didn’t fail to convert for the 1-0. Colombia didn’t stop fighting even with one less man on the pitch and pulled even at the 39th minute with Quintero. However, Japan took the upper hand in the second half and eventually scored the winning goal at the 73rd minute with Osako. Colombia is now left with very few chances to qualify, and they need to defeat Poland on this one.

Poland vs Colombia Prediction 06/24/2018

Both teams messed up in their first matches of the group stage and are now stuck between a rock and a hard place. If any of the two teams lose, then the qualifying hopes are severely diminished. For those who are willing to risk a little bit more, Half-Time/Full-Time Colombia/Poland (+3476) and Poland/Colombia (+2730) are surely something to chase here. Both teams will fight to the death for some points here and given the talent they have in their offensive lines, there is a good chance we will see lots of goals here.
