Los Angeles Kings vs. New York Rangers Game 4 Money Line Prediction

The Los Angeles Kings suddenly find themselves just one win away from a second Stanley Cup title in three years heading into Wednesday night's Game 4 of this year's NHL Finals against the New York Rangers. In what could be the final game of the NHL season, the puck is set to drop at Madison Square Garden at 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBCSN.

Moneyline: Los Angeles +130 New York -140
Over/Under Line: 5 Ov -105
Los Angeles had to overcome a two-goal deficit in the first two games of this series at home, but it left little doubt as to which team is the better of the two in this championship showdown with a 3-0 shutout this past Monday night as a 138 road underdog on BetOnline's closing betting odds. The total stayed UNDER the five-goal line and it is now an even 1-1-1 through the first three games.
Monday's win extended the Kings' scoring streak of at least three goals a game to nine as they have been almost unstoppable on offense in these playoffs. Jeff Carter scored the eventual game-winner as time almost expired in the first period. He now has 10 goals in the postseason. Marian Gaborik is the leading goal scorer with 13 and Anze Kopitar leads in points (5 goals and 21 assists). The top star of the night for Los Angeles was goalie Jonathan Quick, who turned away all 32 shots he faced.

The Rangers have hit a wall at almost every turn in this series and you get the impression that they will simply be playing for pride on Wednesday night. They turned a 2-0 lead in Game 1 into a 3-2 overtime loss as 138 road underdogs. They had a two-goal lead on three separate occasions in Game 2 and still ended-up on the wrong side of a 5-4 double-overtime final as 142 underdogs on the road. They were never in the game on Monday night to fall into the dreaded 3-0 series hole.
New York is going to have to dig down deep to extend this series to a Game 5 in Los Angeles and it will be up to players such as Martin St. Louis and Carl Hagelin to get it done. Each has scored seven goals this postseason with Ryan McDonagh leading the way in total points with 16 (4 goals and 12 assists). The real pressure to avoid the sweep will be on goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Everyone knew that he had to be at the top of his game for the Rangers to win this series and so far that has obviously not been the case.

Betting Trends
The Kings are 23-7 in their last 30 games following a win and 8-3 in their last 11 games on the road. The total has gone OVER in 16 of their last 27 games overall.
The Rangers are 19-9 in their last 28 games after scoring two goals of less in their previous outing. The total has stayed UNDER in 19 of their last 31 home games.
The home team is 6-3 in the last nine game of this matchup and the total has gone OVER in four of the last six meetings in New York. Los Angeles has won five of the last six games overall.

Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Moneyline Pick
There is no solid reason to bet against the Kings in this game other than the fact that it is hard to close-out a team with a sweep on the road. Playing for pride has to count for something on a New York team that played so well in its first three playoff series. I am riding the blocker pad and glove hand of Lundqvist in this one as the Rangers rally to force a Game 5.
