Free NHL Betting Picks for March 15

There a number of solid betting opportunities on this Saturday's schedule in the NHL, but I narrowed things down to three top plays that also happen to be three divisional rivalries between teams that do not really care for one another all that much.

Saturday, March 15th
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Money Line: OFF
Total Line: OFF
The Penguins come into this Metro Division matchup well rested after beating Washington 2-0 this past Tuesday as 180 home favorites to sweep a home-and-home series against the Capitals. They are now 6-2-2 in their last 10 games to remain at the top of the division with 92 points. Pittsburgh is 20-13-2 on the road this season and 4-2 in their last six road games.
Philadelphia will also be coming off an extended break as well after losing to New Jersey 2-0 at home as 135 favorites this past Tuesday. The Flyers had won seven of nine prior to that loss and they are currently in eighth place in the East. This will be the first of a home-and-home series between these two rivals that will wrap-up on Sunday in Pittsburgh so Philadelphia is well aware of the importance of getting a win at home. The road team has actually won the first two meetings this season, but I am banking on the Flyers drawing first blood with a hard-fought win this Saturday on their home ice.

Ottawa Senators vs. Montreal Canadiens
Money Line: OFF
Total Line: OFF
The Senators are now five points out of the final playoff spot in the East after posting just two wins in their last seven games. Ottawa did manage to earn a point its last time out in a 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville as a 130 home favorite, but it has been bleeding goals lately with a goals-against average of 4.2 in its last seven games as opposed to an already porous season GAA of 3.2, which is ranked 28th in the NHL.
Montreal fell to Boston on Wednesday night 4-1 as a 120 underdog at home to drop its fourth game in its last five outings. It has been outscored 15-4 in those four losses with Peter Budaj in net. He has been absolutely shelled while filling in for injured goalie Carey Price. Price has been out with a sore groin since returning from the Olympics and remains questionable for Saturday's game. This to me is a win-win situation no matter who is in goal for Montreal. If Budaj starts then go big on the OVER and even if Price is back in goal, the rust factor alone is still worth a small play the same way on a projected total line of 5.5.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings
Money Line: OFF
Total Line: OFF
The Ducks are still tied with San Jose for the top spot in the Pacific with 93 points, but they have been in a free-fall lately with four straight losses. The worst of this run came this past Wednesday in a 7-2 loss to lowly Calgary as 186 road favorites. Anaheim will have little time to dwell on this loss with a trip to Colorado on the slate for Friday night as 125 favorites on BetOnline's board before travelling back west to face the Kings.
Los Angeles's recent eight-game winning streak came to an end this past Thursday night in a tough 3-2 loss to Toronto as a 195 home favorite, but it remains in excellent position to take advantage of a Ducks' team that is clearly in a state of disarray. The Kings have been firing on all cylinders since the Olympics' break. During their eight-game run they averaged 3.1 goals as opposed to a season average of 2.4 goals per game, but even more impressive is a goals-against average of just 1.5 during this same stretch. Add in the fatigue factor for Anaheim and this one is a gift.
