The Dallas Cowboys moved to 10-4 SU on the season with their week 15 victory over the Giants. Despite another mediocre performance on the offensive side of the football, the Cowboys defense delivered another dominant performance by forcing four turnovers in the 21-6 win over their NFC East rivals. The victory moved the Cowboys into the #2 seed and kept their bid alive for a first-round bye in the playoffs. On Sunday Night Football this week, the Cowboys will host the Washington Football Team at AT&T Stadium as 9.5 point favorites as they look to extend their dominance over the NFC East.

The Cowboys defeated Washington 27-20 just two weeks ago at Landover Field. The Cowboys defense was once again the story of the evening in that match-up as they forced Washington into four turnovers, including a 37-yard fumble return from Dorance Armstrong to basically put the game out of reach. Washington fought back in the waning minutes, making the score appear respectable, but the Cowboys were never in serious jeopardy of losing the game. The victory ended a two-game losing streak to Washington, which has been a small blurb in the Cowboys' dominance over their biggest rival in recent years. In fact, Dallas has won 16 of the last 21 meetings and will be relatively significant favorites to keep that trend alive on Sunday.

Washington Football Team vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Analysis

In the last few weeks, I have confidently backed the Cowboys against questionable betting lines, which included a 6.5 point betting spread in the first meeting against Washington and again last week against a helpless Giants team despite being heavier favorites. For this week's match-up at AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys are currently listed as 10.5 point betting favorites which seems to be closer to what we should have expected in the opening meeting. As a result, this line gets a bit tricky because the Dallas' offense is still performing far below their expectations (over the last 4-5 games) with QB Dak Prescott and this dynamic passing attack that includes receivers Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup.

With those concerns in mind, the Dallas defense has been incredible, leading the NFL with 31 takeaways, and their play seems to be getting better as the season progresses. Washington QB Taylor Heinicke has been decent with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the year however, Heinicke's consistency remains a question mark. WR Terry McLaurin will provide the most intriguing match-up on the field against CB Trevon Diggs. In the first meeting, the Cowboys pass-rush posed all types of challenges for the Washington offense. Heinicke completed just 11 of 25 passing for 122 yards, and RB Antonio Gibson had a team-high 36 yards on the ground. If not for a couple of key turnovers, including a pick-six, Washington's scoring opportunities would have been non-existent. As a result, I think Washington will need those turnovers again this week to keep things within reach.

Washington at Dallas Prediction 12/26/21

The betting line is more appropriate for this match-up, but I still side with the Cowboys, who have the more realistic paths to cover. Take Dallas -10
