Two teams who are playing pretty good ball as of late hook up as the Titans and Colts meet for an AFC South rivalry bout Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. Tennessee just put a hurtin' on Kansas City last week while the Colts just won a game out on the West Coast. Now, Indy will try to make up a game on the Titans in their divisional race.

Tennessee opened as a short road favorite for this game, but early betting steamed the Colts into chalk status. How are we playing this game with one of our free Week 8 NFL picks?

Titans-Colts NFL Betting Lines

The Week 8 NFL betting odds opened Tennessee as a 1.5-point road favorite for this game, with an over/under of right around 49. Early betting action then flipped Indianapolis into a 2.5-point favorite and bumped that total to 51.

Titans Betting Preview

Tennessee is 5-2 on the season after crunching two-time defending AFC champion Kansas City last week 27-3. The Titans hit the scoreboard on each of their first five possessions of the game, led 27-0 at the half, and eased home from there for the outright victory as four-point home dogs. They also held the Chiefs to their lowest point total since 2012.

Tennessee out-gained KC 369-334, and three-quarters of the yardage the Titans' defense gave up came in prevent mode. Tennessee also dominated the time of possession by a 36:24 split and won the turnover battle 3-1.

So the Titans have out-gained four of their last six opponents and out-rushed five of their previ-ous six foes.

Two weeks ago, Tennessee beat Buffalo 34-31, and three weeks ago, they beat Jacksonville 37-19. So the Titans are also 3-0, both SU and ATS their last three times out.

Colts NFL Betting Preview

Indianapolis, meanwhile, is 3-4 on the season after winning in the rain at San Francisco last Sun-day night 30-18. The Colts spotted the 49ers the first nine points of the game but rallied to lead 13-12 into halftime. Indy then scored the first seven points out of the locker room and held on from there for the outright win as a four-point underdog.

The Colts out-gained San Fran 295-280, out-rushed the Niners 148-111, held a 34:26 advantage in time of possession, and won the turnover battle 4-2. Indy has now out-gained and out-rushed three of its last four opponents.

So after starting this season 0-3, the Colts are 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS their last four times out.

At 5-2, Tennessee leads the AFC South by two games and a tie-breaker over 3-4 Indianapolis. But the Colts are also only one game behind Cleveland in the battle for the seventh and last AFC playoff spot.

Titans-Colts Recent History

Tennessee is 3-1 both SU and ATS over the last four meetings with the Colts. Most recently, five weeks ago, the Titans beat Indy 25-16, covering at -4.5. Tennessee led almost that entire game, out-gained the Colts 368-265, and won the ground battle 180-87.

However, Indianapolis QB Wentz was really hurting that day; he’s much better now.

Also, that game played under a total of 47.

The Under is 59-47 in the NFL this season, but that sounds like a lean due for a correction.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts Prediction 10/31/21

Both these teams can run the ball, but Tennessee is out-rushing opponents by 52 yards per game, Indianapolis by 17 YPG. Also, Colts RB Taylor is a little banged up. Also, the Titans just seem to have Indy's number recently. Finally, we never mind betting against the public flow. So we're taking Tennessee here, plus the points.
