Total: 40.5

Week 9 of the NFL season closes things out on Monday night with an inter-conference clash between the 3-4 Tennessee Titans and the 3-4 Dallas Cowboys. Game time from AT&T Stadium is set for 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.

Tennessee at Dallas Game Overview

The Titans went into their bye week on a straight-up three-game slide after losing to the Los Angeles Chargers 20-19 in London as 6.5-point underdogs on Oct. 21. They are 4-3 against the spread with the total staying UNDER in five of their first seven games. Heading on the road for Monday night’s contest, Tennessee is 1-3 SU in its first four road games counting the London game with a 2-2 record ATS.

A failed late-game gamble on a two-point conversion was the difference in the loss to the Chargers for a team that had already beaten Houston and Philadelphia at home. Tennessee's only lopsided loss this season was in a 21-0 shutout against Baltimore as a 2.5-point underdog at home. Marcus Mariota has thrown for just 1,030 yards this season, and he has struggled to get the ball into the end zone through the air with three touchdown throws. The strength of this team lies in a defense that is ranked third in the NFL in points allowed (18.1).

Dallas is also coming off its bye week at 3-4 both SU and ATS after losing to NFC East rival Washington 20-17 in Week 7 as a slight 1.5-point road favorite. The total stayed UNDER 40.5 points in that loss, and it has stayed UNDER in five of its first seven games. The Cowboys are a perfect 3-0 at home SU with a 2-1 record ATS. The total has gone OVER the closing line in two of those three home games.

Other than a 40-7 romp over Jacksonville on Oct. 14 as three-point home underdogs, the Cowboys’ offense has struggled to put points on the board with an average of 20.0 a game. The passing game is ranked just ahead of Tennessee at 29th in the NFL with an average of 183.1 yards per game. Behind Ezekiel Elliott's 619 yards rushing on 132 carries, Dallas moves to fourth in the NFL when it comes to running the ball. Its defense is ranked second in scoring with a points-allowed average of 17.6.

Titans at Cowboys Prediction ATS

The Titans have taken a step backward from their fast start, but this is still a team that has some quality wins on its 2018 resume. Dallas should win this game SU, but the current 6.5-point betting line is somewhat inflated in light of the anticipated money coming in on the Cowboys.

I am not sure Dallas can beat any team by a touchdown or even a couple of field goals given its current form on offense, so I will take the bait and take the points on the Titans to cover ATS.
