Thursday Night Football pits the Los Angeles Chargers on the road against the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs in a prime-time showdown on Thursday Night Football. NFL Network will carry the game nationally with the kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium set for 8:20 p.m.
Los Angeles at Kansas City Game Overview
The Chargers extended their current straight-up winning streak to three games with Sunday’s 26-21 victory against Cincinnati, but they came nowhere close to covering the closing 16.5-point spread as home favorites. Los Angeles has won nine of its last 10 games as part of an overall SU record of 10-3, but it falls to 7-6 against the spread. Heading into Kansas City, it is 5-1 ATS in six previous road games this season.
Philip Rivers went an efficient 19-for-29 for 220 yards and one score in Sunday’s win with Keenan Allen catching five of those passes for 78 yards and that lone touchdown throw. Rivers completed at least one pass to eight different players. He has now thrown for 3,638 yards and 29 touchdowns this season. Allen leads the team in receiving yards with 1,074 on 88 receptions. The Chargers are averaging 268.8 passing yards and 28.2 points a game.
Kansas City started its season with a 38-28 road victory against the Chargers as three-point underdogs. Heading into Thursday's showdown, it is still just one game ahead of its rival in the AFC West standings at 11-2. The Chiefs maintained that slim lead with Sunday's 27-24 win in overtime against Baltimore as 6.5-point home favorites. They have failed to cover in five of their last six games with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams ending as a PUSH. Kansas City is 8-4-1 ATS with an even 3-3 record covering at home.
Chiefs' second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes is still in the discussion for MVP, and he bolstered his cause with a couple of big plays in Sunday's win. He ended the game with 377 yards passing and two scores while completing 35 of his 53 passing attempts. Tyreek Hill had eight catches on 14 targets for 139 yards receiving. Kansas City is averaging 318.8 passing yards a game, and it is putting up 36.2 points a game on the scoreboard.

Los Angeles at Kansas City Prediction 12/13/2018
Games do not get any bigger than this in the month of December. The Chiefs have set the pace in the AFC West all season long since that Week 1 win, but the Chargers have remained right on their heel’s week after week. One way or the other, this is going to be a great way to kick off Week 15.
Since I have a field goal winning this game for either team, I will take the Chargers and the 3.5 points on the current betting line to cover ATS.
