The Dallas Cowboys battle the New York Giants in East Rutherford on Monday Night Football. Let's try to end the NFL betting week with a cover. Dallas is coming off the bye. Before the break, they were able to stop the bleeding with a 37-10 win over the Eagles to end a three-game slide. The Giants are struggling at 2-6, coming off a 31-26 loss to the Lions, where they at least managed to cover their third spread of the season.

What Changed?

These divisional rivals played in week one, with Dallas posting a convincing 35-17 win at AT&T Stadium. The Giants kept the Dallas run-game from getting unhinged, which might have had a lot to do with Dak Prescott taking to the air with such ease, putting up 405 yards for 4 TDs. Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper both had big days, with Brock Jarwin, Randall Cobb, and Jason Witten also catching TDs. It's unclear if the Giants have improved enough on "D" to prevent something similar from happening again. The Cowboys, for all their faults and inconsistency, still have the top-gaining offense in the league. Against a Giants' defense that is among the worst in the conference, it's a definite concern.

Best Version of the Giants in 2019?

Granted, they didn't get over the hump against Detroit last week, but some things seem to be lining up for the Giants heading into week nine. Daniel Jones had his best game of the season last week, other than the fact that he didn't win. He threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns and just as importantly—no interceptions. A few players who haven't gotten in a groove will surely start to deliver, namely Saquon Barkley, who should be ready to create a major impact. Golden Tate has started hitting his stride. Darius Slayton is forming into a nice weapon, and TE Evan Engram is one of the more productive tight ends in the league. We see a New York offense with some pep that can be dangerous in a spot like this at home within their own division.

Looking for an Angle

There are a lot of matchup components that don't shake out well for the Giants that manifested in week one in this very matchup. But there's a new QB in there for the Giants now in Jones, with some better pieces to go along with a fresh face behind center. They're at home and playing just a little better on both sides of the ball. But Dallas, having fallen on hard times, might actually make this harder for the Giants. Coming off the bye at just 4-3, this is a must-win for Dallas, and a loss here would be hard to overcome, both from a W-L perspective and just their overall identity as a playoff team. The bye week also gave some key guys on the defense a chance to get healthy after leaving the last game.

Cowboys at Giants Prediction 11/04/19

The prospects of facing a rested Dallas team that appeared to shake off its funk with a 27-point win over Philly might elicit some fear from a potential Giants backer. And it should. I think that while the Giants fall short of a winning team at this point, things have maybe started to turn in the right direction for them. And until we see different, they will be a team that can spring a surprise here and there, while being resilient enough in spots like this to cover some spreads. With the Giants' defense making more plays, being at home, and playing a little more-stout overall, I see their offense doing enough to keep pace with the Cowboys on MNF.
