Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles Pick - Odds and ATS Predictions
The Eagles opened on most NFL odds boards as a -4 point spread favorite but quickly climbed to -5, and some of the betting sites are now hanging a -5.5. The total has seen some up and down movement but has settled back at its opener of 45 points.
Last Games: The Panthers fell to 3-2 with a 23-17 road loss to the Washington Redskins where they failed to cover the spread as a 1-point favorite, and the 40 combined points scored fell short of the 44.5 O/U line.
The Eagles evened their record at 3-3 with a 34-13 road win over the New York Giants where they crushed the - 1.5-point favorite. The offensive outburst by the Eagles helped the total cross the 45 line.
Carolina at Philadelphia NFL Game Set-Up
The Panthers are coming off a loss to the Redskins where they were down 17 after three early turnovers, but could not complete the comeback. Cam Newton passed for 275 yards with a couple of TD and had one pick and also led the team with 43 rushing yards. Christian McCaffrey didn’t have a strong game rushing for 20 yards on eight carries and, overall, Carolina managed just 81 yards on the ground.
The Panthers live and die by the run, and if they are successfully running the ball, they usually win. In the two games, this season Newton has passed for the most yards Carolina lost both games.
The Eagles had 401 total yards in the win over the Giants but were unsuccessful on 3rd down attempts going 0 for 7 in that metric. Carson Wentz passed for 278 yards with three TD and no INT, and he was only sacked once. He played well, and the defense did as well, and while neither Wendell Smallwood or Corey Clement averaged over four yards per carry, they did combine for 94 of the Eagles 108 rushing yards.
Head to Head: These teams met last season at Carolina where the Eagles beat the Panthers 28-23.
This season the Panthers are 2-3 against the spread with an O/U record of 3-2 and the Eagles are 2-4 ATS with an O/U record of 3-3.
This season the Panthers rank 22nd in the league in total offense, and 14th in total defense and the Eagles rank 18th in total offense and 12th in total defense.
Carolina Panthers: 21.08
Philadelphia Eagles: 22.76

Panthers at Eagles Prediction Week 7 10/21/2018
The Panthers have been out-yarded in three of their five games this season. The run game has started to falter with their last two games producing the lowest totals on the ground. Statistically, Philadelphia has shone on run defense holding all but the Giants to 77 yards or fewer rushing yards. They are "beat up" at the DT position, but they may get back Haloti Ngata (check status) who has missed the last two games to fortify the unit. The Eagles offense looked sharp against the Giants and should be able to continue that success against a Panthers' defense that has had a tough time defending the pass. The weather is a bit of concern today, with winds expected in the high teens, but I'll take my chances on an improving Wentz against this secondary and the OVER.
