The Dallas Cowboys now go forward without starting quarterback Dak Prescott, beginning Monday night when they host Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals at JerryWorld in Arlington. Dallas is lined as a home dog for only the second time over the last season-plus, while Arizona is playing on the road for the third week in a row. How are we playing this game with our <a href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/nfl/free-nfl-picks" title="Free NFL Football Picks ATS">free NFL pick?

NFL Betting Odds

<a href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/nfl/odds" title="NFL Betting Odds From Multiple Sportsbooks">Week 6 NFL betting odds opened Arizona as a 2.5-point favorite over Dallas, with an over/under of right around 53. Early betting action then goosed that total to 55.

Cardinals vs. Cowboys Set-Up

Arizona is 3-2 on the season after beating the Jets in New Jersey last week 30-10. The Cardinals drove their first possession of the game 89 yards to a touchdown, led 17-3 at the half, let the Jets get within 17-10 midway through the third quarter but tacked on the last 10 points to secure the victory and the cover as seven-point road favorites.

Arizona out-gained New York 496-285, out-rushed the Jets 127-123, and won the time of possession by a 32:28 split. The Cardinals also snuffed a New York drive on a 4th-and-1 from the Arizona 13-yard line in the second quarter and shortly thereafter forced the Jets into a short field goal following a 1st-and-goal situation.

The Cardinals have now out-gained and out-rushed four of their five opponents this season.

Arizona opened this season with that 24-20 win at San Francisco, which doesn't look like an upset anymore. The Cardinals then beat Washington 30-15 but lost at home to Detroit 26-23 and then at Carolina 31-21.

At 3-2, Arizona sits in third place in the tough NFC West, two games behind first-place Seattle.

Dallas, meanwhile, is 2-3 after outlasting the win-less Giants last Sunday 37-34. The Cowboys took an early 3-0 lead, gave up a 17-0 New York run to fall behind by two scores, then rallied to lead 24-20 at the half. Dallas then fell back again midway through the fourth quarter but kicked a field goal, made a defensive stop, then kicked another field goal at the buzzer to avoid an embarrassing defeat.

However, the Cowboys never threatened to cover the spread as favorites of 7.5 points.

The big news from that game, though, was Dak Prescott's terrible ankle injury suffered in the third quarter that will keep him out for the rest of this season. Veteran Andy Dalton hit on 9/11 throws for 111 yards in leading Dallas to those game-winning field goals, and he's the man from here on out for the Cowboys.

Dallas out-gained the Giants 402-300 and won the ground battle 126-89 but lost the turnover battle 2-1, creating a -7 points differential.

The Cowboys have now out-gained four of their five opponents this season.

Dallas opened this season with a 20-17 loss to the Rams, then rallied from a 20-0 deficit to defeat Atlanta 40-39. But the Cowboys then lost at Seattle 38-31 and then at home to Cleveland 49-38. So Dallas has yet to cover a point spread this season.

Nonetheless, at 2-3, the Cowboys lead the NFC East by a half-game over second-place Philadelphia.

These two teams met most recently three seasons ago, a 28-17 Cowboys victory in Phoenix. But before that, the Cardinals had beaten Dallas four times in a row.

Cards vs. Cowboys Prediciton 10/19/20

Murray gets most of the ink surrounding Arizona, but the Cardinals defense ranks 10th in the league in yardage, holding foes to 347 yards per game, and fifth in scoring, allowing only 20 points per game. Meanwhile, Dallas is working with its back-up QB, and its defense made the Giants look good last week. We'll take Arizona here, plus the point.
