Purdue Boilermakers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Odds Point Spread Prediction

Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis will be the sight of this year's clash between the Big Ten's Purdue Boilermakers and the No. 16-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This in-state showdown is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
Purdue vs. Notre Dame Game Overview
It has been a rough go of it for Purdue lately with just one straight-up win last season and a 1-1 start this year that includes an embarrassing 38-17 loss to Central Michigan last Saturday as a three-point favorite at home. The total went OVER the 53-point closing line in that game and it has now gone OVER in four of its last five games.
The Boilermakers put up 43 points in an opening day nine-point victory over Western Michigan as seven-point home favorites, but they came out flat last week with just 326 yards of total offense. It did not help the cause that they turned the ball over three times including two Danny Etling interceptions. One of those was returned 57 yards for an early score that set the pace for the entire game.

Notre Dame comes into this game riding high after posting an impressive 31-0 shutout against rival Michigan as a four-point home favorite in the final meeting in that fabled series. The Irish opened the new season with a 48-17 rout over Rice as 19.5-point favorites at home. The total stayed UNDER the 56-point closing line against the Wolverines and it has now stayed UNDER in five of their last six games.
The return of quarterback Everett Golson from last season's academic suspension has provided a huge spark to this offense with 521 yards passing and five touchdown throws in his first two games. William Fuller has been his favorite target with 13 receptions for 174 yards and two scores and Amir Carlisle has caught another nine balls for 115 yards and two scores as well. As good as the offense has looked so far, much of the credit for the fast start has to go to a defense that has completely dominated the opposition so far.

Purdue vs. Notre Dame Betting Trends
The Boilermakers are 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine games as underdogs and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The total has gone OVER in their last four nonconference games.
The Fighting Irish are 4-1 ATS in their last five games and the total has stayed UNDER in 20 of their last 26 games following a SU win.
Purdue has lost the last six games in this series SU, but it is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. The total has stayed UNDER in three of those five games.

Purdue vs. Notre Dame Point Spread Pick
Purdue has made a habit of playing Notre Dame tough the past few meetings, but I am beginning to get the impression that there has not been all that much improvement from last year's team that managed just one win. Do not worry about laying four touchdowns in this game as the Irish continue to roll with another dominating victory this week.
