Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Boston College Eagles Betting Odds - Point Spread Pick

The Pittsburgh Panthers will open-up play in the ACC with a trip to Alumni Stadium this Friday night to square-off against the Boston College Eagles. Kickoff for this clash is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Pittsburgh vs. Boston College Game Overview
Pitt made a statement in its opening-day 62-0 rout of Division IAA Delaware as a 24-point home favorite. The total went OVER the 59.5-point line. This followed a disappointing end to the 2013 campaign in which the team won just three of its last seven games straight-up while going 4-3 against the spread. The total has now gone OVER in four of the Panthers' last five games.
Last week's game was over by halftime after Pitt racked-up six touchdowns in the first two quarters. The passing game only produced 92 total yards behind quarterback Chad Voytik, but the Panthers did not really have to pass the ball with a rushing attack that torched the Blue Hens for 409 yards on the ground. James Conner led the way with 152 yards on just 14 carries. He also accounted for four touchdowns.

Boston College came out on the winning end of an opening day matchup against Massachusetts with a 30-7 victory as a 17-point favorite on the road. The total in that game stayed UNDER the 49-point closing line. This followed a 6-6 SU (7-5 ATS) record in 2013 in which the Eagles covered against Florida State as 24-point underdogs at home and beat Virginia Tech SU as a four-point home underdog.
This was another team that relied heavily on its ground game to get the opening-day victory with 338 yards rushing. Quarterback Tyler Murphy proved to be a duel threat with 173 yards passing and a team-high 118 yards on the ground. His top target in the passing game was Dan Crimmins with seven receptions for 52 yards, but Josh Border made a couple of big plays with four catches for 81 yards and a score. UMass was able to keep things close into the third quarter, but BC outscored the Minutemen 24-7 from there.

Pittsburgh vs. Boston College Betting Trends
The Panthers are an even 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games , but they have covered in the last three on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five road games.
The Eagles have now won five of their last seven games SU and they are a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five home games. The total has gone OVER in four of those five games.
Head-to-head in this ACC matchup, Pittsburgh has won four of the last five meetings SU, but it is just 1-4 SU in its last five road games against BC. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the last six meetings.

Pittsburgh vs. Boston College Spread Prediction
Pitt may have the slight edge in overall talent between these two conference foes, but I really like the Eagles getting points at home. While BC may not come out of this game with the SU win, it will be able to keep the game close enough to cover with the 4.5 points.
