Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers Free Best Bet

The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the No. 8 LSU Tigers will each open play in the SEC this season in a Saturday night tilt at Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Mississippi State vs. LSU Game Overview
The Bulldogs are well aware of what is on the line this Saturday night if they are going to have any chance to compete with the big boys in the SEC-West Division title race. They have gone a perfect 3-0 straight-up in the nonconference portion of their schedule with lopsided victories over Southern Miss (49-0), UAB (47-34) and South Alabama (35-3) as double-digit favorites, although they did fail to cover against the spread as 29-point home favorites in the game against the Blazers.
Dak Prescott has done a good job throwing the ball for Mississippi State with 696 yards and nine touchdowns while completing just under 60 percent of his passes and he has added another 273 yards on the ground in 40 rushing attempts. The defense has been victimized for a number of big plays so far, which has to be a concern against a team like LSU, but head coach Dan Mullen remains confident that this unit can come up big when it needs to the most.

The Tigers started the season with an impressive 28-24 victory over Wisconsin on the road as 3.5-point favorites and this past Saturday they waxed Louisiana-Monroe 31-0 as 30.5-point home favorites to start the season 3-0 both SU and ATS. The total has now stayed UNDER in their last two games. Les Miles knows the schedule only gets tougher from here with a road game against Auburn in early October and a brutal stretch at the end of the year against Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas A&M. Given the head coach's high expectations this season you would have to believe that he will have his team ready for Saturday night.
LSU has gotten it done on the ground so far with an average of 226.3 yards a game, but do not be surprised to see quarterback Anthony Jennings take a few shots deep downfield. Kenny Hilliard and heavily touted freshman Leonard Fournette have combined for 377 yards and five touchdowns on the ground and wide receiver Travin Dural has torn it up in the passing game with 12 receptions for 370 yards and four scores.

Mississippi State vs. LSU Point Spread Pick
This is about as close as these two teams have been to one another talent-wise in a number of years, but you do not bet against the Tigers at home especially when it comes to a series that they have thoroughly dominated of the years. Lay the 10 points and take LSU as one of my "best bets" of the week.
