Mississippi State at Alabama Pick - Odds and ATS Predictions
A pair of top-25 SEC teams will meet up during week 11 of the 2018 NCAA Football season. Top-ranked Alabama will host the 16th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide have won ten straight games over their SEC West rival dating back to the 2008 season.
Alabama comes into this game with a perfect 9-0 record and has outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points per game this season. The Crimson Tide have already clinched the SEC West division and will play Georgia in the SEC Championship game. Mississippi State has won two straight games to move their record to 6-3 on the season. The Bulldogs are just 2-3 in conference games and are near the bottom of the division. Alabama is a whopping 24.5 point favorite in this matchup with the Bulldogs.
Bama Offense Can’t Be Stopped
The Alabama offense has been the best in the country this season, and it doesn’t appear that any team can slow them down. The Crimson Tide average an FBS best 51.3 points per game this season with Tua Tagovailoa leading the way. Tagovailoa has thrown for more 2,361 yards already this season and has thrown a whopping 27 touchdown passes. He threw his first interception of the season in last week’s victory over LSU.
The defense of the Crimson Tide isn't too shabby either. Alabama has given up just 14.1 points per game this season and held LSU scoreless at Tiger Stadium last Saturday night. Alabama has recorded 31 sacks this season and has forced 18 turnovers on defense. The Crimson Tide defense will look to put plenty of pressure on the Bulldogs in this game.
Bulldogs Defense Among Nation’s Best
Speaking of good defense, Mississippi State has allowed just 12.3 points per game this season, which is tied for the second-best average in the country. Mississippi State has held five of their first nine opponents to ten points or less so far this season. The Bulldogs will face their toughest test of the season by far in this game and will try to be the first team to figure out a way to stop Tagovailoa and the Bama passing attack.
The Bulldogs are still looking for more consistency on offense, but quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is starting to show signs of improvement. Mississippi State is averaging just 29.1 points per game this season, which is the reason for their poor conference record. Fitzgerald has completed only 50 percent of his passes this season and has thrown 7 interceptions. The senior quarterback will need to make better decisions in this game against Alabama.
Crimson Tide Make Another Statement 11/10/2018
Mississippi State has a terrific defense, but Alabama will be looking to make another statement in this game. The Crimson Tide love a challenge, and they would love to hang a big number on the Bulldogs defense. If Alabama can beat LSU at Tiger Stadium by 29, they can do the same against Mississippi State at home.
