Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs Betting Odds - Point Spread Pick

In one of the biggest matchups in Week 1 of the new college football season, the ACC's Clemson Tigers will travel to Sanford Stadium this Saturday to square-off against the Georgia Bulldogs, out of the SEC. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Clemson vs. Georgia Game Overview
Clemson opens the new season as a 10/1 third-favorite to win the ACC this season behind Louisville and Florida State after finishing second to the Seminoles in the Atlantic Division standings last season at 7-1. The Tigers went 11-2 straight-up overall including a huge 38-35 victory over Georgia on opening day as 1.5-point home underdogs.
Quarterback Tajh Boyd and wide receiver Sammy Watkins are gone and Clemson has already lost its leading rusher when Zac Brooks went down with a season-ending foot injury. These are some mighty big holes to fill on an offense that was ranked ninth in the nation in scoring last season with 40.2 points per game.

The Bulldogs are 13/2 fifth-favorites to win the SEC this season, but many football experts have them penciled-in as their top sleeper team to watch in this power conference. They bounced back from that opening day loss to win their next four games including a huge victory over South Carolina, but a rash of injuries derailed the rest of the 2013 season as Georgia went onto to finish 8-5 overall with a 5-3 mark in SEC play.
Aaron Murray is gone as the Bulldogs starting quarterback, but there are no questions about this running game with Heisman hopeful Todd Gurley leading the way. Last season he led the team with 989 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns both running and catching the ball and the hype surrounding their new starting quarterback Hutson Mason should make for an exciting duo on offense. The big question mark heading into this season opener is a Georgia defense that allowed an average of 29 points a game last year.

Clemson vs. Georgia Game Betting Trends
The Tigers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and they finished last season on a 4-1 run ATS in their last five games. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last six games against the SEC.
The Bulldogs have gone 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games against the ACC, but they are just 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games. The total has gone OVER in seven of their last nine games played at home.
Last year was the first meeting between the two since 2003 and it was Clemson's first SU win in the last six meetings. The total in that game went OVER the 70.5-point closing line.

Clemson at Georgia Point Spread Prediction
I am banking on the revenge factor in this matchup. The Bulldogs are playing at home and coming into their season opener with a better overall roster than Clemson. Mason is eager to show what he can do after playing backup to Murray and Gurley is looking to explode out of the blocks in his run towards this year's Heisman. Lay the 7.5 points and take the Bulldogs to cover the spread in this one.
