Duke is a 21-time champion of the ACC tournament while Miami’s won it once, heading into this semi-finals match-up Friday night in Brooklyn. Both teams are top-four seeds for this ACC tournament but both also struggled to get by inferior opponents Thursday. And while the Blue Devils are nearly double-digit favorites for Friday night they’ve also lost their last two meetings with the Hurricanes. Friday’s CBB betting lines opened Duke as a nine-point favorite over Miami, with an over/under of right around 151. Early betting action then dipped that total two points to 149. According to Sagarin’s CBB ratings the Blue Devils should be favored by nine points for this match-up. How 'bout that.

Miami Betting Preview

The 4-seeded Hurricanes reached the semifinals of this ACC tournament by beating a bad Boston College team in a quarterfinals match Thursday 71-69 in overtime. Miami, favored by eight points, never led by more than five and trailed by three with a minute to go. But the 'Canes hit a 3-pointer to force OT, then won it with a defensive stop, a long outlet pass and a lay-in by Jordan Miller at the overtime buzzer. Miami shot 54 percent from the floor Thursday but allowed the Eagles to shoot 51 percent. In fact, the Hurricanes have allowed three of their last four opponents to shoot 50 percent or better from the field. On the positive side of things the 'Canes themselves have shot at least 50 percent from the floor each of their last five games. So Miami is 7-2 SU, 6-2-1 ATS over its last nine games and 15-6 both SU and ATS in ACC play this season. At 23-9 overall the 'Canes are headed back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in four seasons.

Duke Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the top-seeded Blue Devils reached this ACC tournament semifinal by holding off a shorthanded Syracuse outfit in a quarterfinal match Thursday 88-79. Duke, favored by 15 points, actually trailed the Orange 40-36 at the half and 79-78 with three minutes left. But the Blue Devils then scored the final 10 points of the game to avoid the upset, although they also never threatened to cover that spread.

Duke shot 48 percent from the floor and held Syracuse to 40 percent shooting. So the Blue Devils are now 8-1 SU but only 4-5 ATS over their last nine games and 17-4 SU, 11- 10 ATS in ACC action. At 27-5 overall Duke is right in the running for a No. 1 seed at the Big Dance.

Miami-Duke Recent History

The Hurricanes own a two-game winning “streak” on the Blue Devils, winning both of the last two meetings by a bucket outright as large underdogs. Most recently, back in January, Miami scored the last five points of the game to steal a 76-74 decision from Duke in Durham as a 15- point dog. The Blue Devils won the battle on the boards that night 44-30 but the 'Canes won the turnover battle 17-5. Also, that game just played under a total of 152.5.

Miami Hurricanes vs. Duke Blue Devils Prediction ATS

Duke is the better defensive team in this match-up, does a better job on the boards and will probably win this game. But the Dukies are also too often favored by too much and Miami is 9- 2-1 ATS this season as an underdog. Plus, the Hurricanes don’t fear Duke; they’ve beaten them twice in a row. So we’re taking the

 'Canes and the points here.
