Tuesday's NBA Playoff Picks 8/25/20

Three first-round NBA playoff series is now completed, and another could come to an end Tuesday night. Also, favorites continue their roll, going 25-7 straight up, 22-10 against the spread so far this postseason. Who do we like for our free NBA playoff picks for Tuesday?

Jazz -3/221 vs. Nuggets, 6:30 pm ET, TNT

Utah leads this series 3-1 after winning Game 4 Sunday 129-127. That game was close throughout, neither team leading by more than 11 points. Near the end, though, the Jazz used a four-point possession to create a five-point lead and hung on from there for the victory.

However, a Denver 3-pointer with less than a second left gave the Nuggets the cover as 3.5-point underdogs.

On the night, Utah shot a blazing 58 percent from the floor and made 31 free throws, compared to just 12 for Denver.

So since losing Game 1 of this series, the Jazz has won three in a row, two in blowout fashion, shooting the lights out in the process.

Denver swept three games from Utah during the regular season,

Free NBA Pick: We're 2-2 ATS on this series, picking Denver all four games. Little did we know the Nuggets would allow the Jazz to shoot the ball so well. We fully expected this series to go at least six games when it started, and if Denver starts to play some defense, or at least if Utah comes back to Earth, it still might. And that's our guess. We'll take the Nuggets and the points for this Game 5.

Clippers -6.5/236 vs. Mavericks, 9 pm ET, TNT

This series is tied at 2-2 after Dallas' crazy 135-133 overtime victory in Game 4 Sunday. The Mavericks, playing without Kristaps Porzingis, trailed LA by 21 points in the second quarter but used a 16-0 run to take the lead in the third. Dallas later led by 12, only to have the Clippers rally to force OT. The Mavs then got a long 3-point from a hobbled Luca Doncic at the OT buzzer for the win.

On the night, Dallas shot 50 percent from the floor, LA 46 percent. But the Mavs won the battle on the boards by a 68-45 margin.

The Clippers won Game 1 of this series last Monday 118-110, covering at -6. Dallas then took Game 2 Wednesday 127-114, winning outright as five-point dogs. And LA then won Game 3 Friday 130-122, covering at -5. So these teams are alternating wins/losses in this series.

The Clippers swept three games from the Mavericks during the regular season.

On the injury front, Doncic is dealing with a sore ankle, but he'll play Tuesday. Porzingis, though, is still listed as questionable with that sore knee.

Free NBA Pick: We're 2-2 ATS on this series, backing LA all four games. And we still believe the Clippers are the better team. LA will have to pick up its defense on Doncic, and Chris Paul needs to make a few shots, but we'll stick with the Clippers for our pick on this Game 5.
