Today's NBA Picks 8/29/20

Following a few days off for social reflection, the NBA playoffs are expected to begin again Saturday with three first-round playoff games, two of which should end first-round series. Who do we like for our free NBA playoff picks?

Bucks -14/225.5 vs. Magic, 3:30 pm ET, NBATV

Milwaukee leads this series 3-1 after taking Game 4 Monday 121-106. The Bucks only led that game by three points through three quarters but used a 20-5 run to begin the fourth to take control. In the end, Milwaukee finished the game with a 12-4 run to secure the cover as a 13-point favorite.

So since losing the opener of this series, the Bucks are 3-0 both SU and ATS.

Milwaukee is also now 7-1 SU, 6-2 ATS vs. Orlando this season.

Favorites are 26-8 SU, 23-11 ATS during this NBA bubble playoff tournament.

Free NBA Pick: We're 3-1 ATS on this series, betting the Bucks every game. Milwaukee surely would like to close this series out Friday to avoid going any longer before meeting up with Miami in their upcoming Eastern Conference semi-finals series. This is the largest line for any game in this series, and while it may seem a bit high, the Bucks' three victories in this series have come by 15, 14, and 15 points. Orlando had its moment back in Game 1; we'll stick with Milwaukee for Game 5.

Rockets -3/227 vs. Thunder, 6:30 pm ET, TNT

This series 0is tied at 2-2 following Oklahoma City's 117-114 Game 4 victory Monday. The Thunder actually trailed Houston by 15 points midway through the third quarter and by one point with a minute and a half to go but used a 10-3 spurt to steal the outright win as three-point dogs.

So the underdog is now 3-1 both SU and ATS in this series. Also, the overs are 3-1 in this series and 18-15-1 in these playoffs.

OKC is now 4-3 SU, 5-2 ATS vs. Houston this season.

The Rockets are still playing without G Russell Westbrook.

Free NBA Pick: We're 2-2 ATS on this series, backing the Thunder all four games. Our take is Oklahoma City plays the better defense and does a better job on the boards, and it should have Big Mo on its side Friday. We'll stick with the Thunder here for this Game 5.

Lakers -13/223 vs. Trailblazers, 9 pm ET, TNT

Los Angeles leads this series 3-1 after taking Game 4 Monday 135-115. The Lakers jumped out to a 15-0 lead Monday, pushed that advantage to 29 points at the half, and later led by 38, cruising to the victory and the easy money as favorites of 7.5 points.

So since losing the opener of this series Los Angeles is 3-0, both SU and ATS, winning by 23, 8, and 20 points, covering at -7 and -7.5 twice.

LA is also now 5-2 both SU and ATS vs. Portland this season.

Anyone thinking about playing the Blazers on the "zig-zag" theory may want to know that the betting method is just 12-14 ATS during these playoffs.

On the injury front, Portland will play this game without G Damian Lillard, who sprained a knee Monday.

Free NBA Pick: We're 2-2 ATS on this series, backing the Blazers three times, the Lakers once. But following a promising start to this series for underdog Portland, it looks like it's over. And the Lakers, like the Bucks, want it over, quickly. LA might not lead this one by 38, but its difficult to see how a shorthanded Blazers team keeps things close. We'll give the points here with the Lakers.
