Spurs vs. Suns Game Overview
You have to give credit to the short-handed Spurs. Their leading scorer (Tony Parker) and starting small forward (Kawhi Leonard) remain out of the lineup, yet they have managed to knock-off both the Clippers and the Trail Blazers on the road in back-to-back games this past Tuesday and Wednesday. San Antonio has now gone 6-2 straight-up in the first eight games of this extended road trip. It has covered against the spread in the last three outings and the total has gone OVER in the last five games. It is now 17-12 ATS on the road this season to complement an impressive SU road record of 22-7.
The return of Manu Ginobili has provided a spark the last two games and the Spurs' bench has come up big to help fill the void. Patty Mills pumped-in 25 points in Tuesday's win over Los Angeles and then followed that up with a team-high 29 points against Portland. San Antonio comes into this matchup ranked eighth in the NBA in points (104.1) and ranked seventh in points allowed (97.8). It remains one of the best shooting teams in the league with a field goal percentage of 49.0 percent.

Phoenix is also coming off back-to-back victories following the All-Star break. It squeezed-out a 112-107 overtime victory over Denver on Tuesday as a two-point road favorite and then followed that up with Wednesday's 100-94 win over Boston as a 5.5-point favorite at home. The Suns are now 7-3 both SU and ATS in their last 10 games with the total going OVER in six those games. They are 18-9 SU at home with a 15-10-2 record ATS.
This is another team that knows how to light up a scoreboard with an average of 105 points and it has been solid under the boards with 43.6 rebounds. Phoenix has had its issues on the other end of the court on defense and it is now ranked 23rd in points allowed (101.8). Balance has been the key to the Suns' success with seven different players scoring at least nine points a game which has helped make up for the loss of Eric Bledsoe, who is out for the season with a knee injury. Goran Dragic has led the way with 20.3 points and Miles Plumlee leads the team in rebounds with 8.5 a game.
San Antonio vs. Phoenix Betting Trends
The Spurs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a SU winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following an ATS win. The total has gone OVER in six of their last seven games against the Pacific Division.
The Suns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a SU win and 21-6-1 ATS in their last 28 games playing on one day's rest. The total has gone OVER in five of their last six games against a team from the Southwest Division.
Head-to-head in this matchup, the road team is 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the total has gone OVER in nine of the last 11 meetings in Phoenix. San Antonio has won the first two games this season SU.
Something has to give in this one with both teams playing their third game in four nights. The past trends already favor a high-scoring affair and fatigue could have an impact on defense for both teams. This combination sets the stage for this game to go OVER what I believe to be a very favorable total line.
