Point Spread: -7.5
Total Line: 216.5
Knicks vs. Lakers Game Overview
The Knicks were riding an eight-game winning streak into this past Sunday's home game against Cleveland, but they could not stand the success in a 106-100 loss as 10-point favorites after leading that game by as many as 17 points. The loss dropped them to 29-41 on the year and they are now three games in back of Atlanta for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. New York went 6-2 against the spread during this winning streak and the total has gone OVER in six of its last nine games after going OVER the 199-point line against the Hawks.
New York's recent resurgence could be tied into the arrival of Phil Jackson as the team's new president, but most likely it is due to better consistency shooting the ball. The Knicks are ranked 20th in the NBA in scoring with 98.7 points per game, but they have now eclipsed the 100-point mark in seven of their last nine games. Carmelo Anthony continues to lead the way with 28.1 PPG and, despite the unfavorable result, he put up 32 points against the Cavaliers. On the injury front, Raymond Felton remains questionable for Tuesday night with a thumb injury.

The Lakers have been riding out the string for quite some time now and things have only gotten worse with a 2-7 SU record in their last nine games. They are coming off a 103-94 victory over Orlando on Sunday as four-point home favorites to improve to 3-6 ATS during this same stretch. The total stayed UNDER the 217-point closing line against the Magic after going OVER in 10 of their last 13 outings. Los Angeles is 23-46 SU (35-33-1 ATS) this season and almost as bad at home (12-22 SU) as it is on the road (11-24 SU).
In all fairness to the Lakers, this team has been devastated by injuries all season long. Pau Gasol (illness) and Xavier Henry (wrist) remain doubtful for Tuesday's game which has already had an impact on the betting lines for this game. Gasol currently leads the team in scoring 17.5 PPG and he is also the Lakers' top rebounder with 9.8 so be sure to keep a close watch on his actual playing status closer to game time. Los Angeles, as a team, is ranked 12th in the NBA in scoring with 102 PPG, but a dismal 29th in points allowed (108.6).

New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Lakers Betting Trends

Against the Spread Pick
The Knicks obviously need this game much more than Los Angeles, so that sense of urgency should remain pretty high after suffering such a bad loss on Sunday. The banged-up Lakers will remain game, but in the end the pick in this one is New York covering on the road.
