NBA Picks 9/1/20 - Odds & Predictions

The Jazz and Nuggets meet for a Game 7 while the Celtics and Raptors play a Game 2, as the NBA playoffs roll on Tuesday night down in the Florida bubble. Who are we playing with our free NBA picks?

Raptors -1.5/218 vs. Celtics, 5:30 pm ET, ESPN

Boston leads this series 1-0 after taking Game 1 Sunday in convincing fashion 112-94. The Celtics jumped out to a 19-point first-quarter lead, let Toronto get within nine in the second quarter, but pushed their advantage out to 17 by the half and breezed home from there for the surprisingly easy outright victory as two-point underdogs.

On the afternoon, Boston shot 47 percent from the floor while holding the Raptors to just 37 percent shooting and only 10/40 shooting from 3-point land.

With Sunday's win/cover, the Celtics are now 5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS in these playoffs.

With Sunday's loss, Toronto is now 4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS in these playoffs.

Also, Boston is now 4-1 both SU and ATS this season against Toronto, even though the Raptors finished five games ahead of the Celtics in the final regular-season standings.

On the injury front, Boston is still playing without F Gordon Hayward, although they haven't seemed to miss him too much so far.

Free NBA Pick: We're 0-1 ATS picking this series after Toronto laid an egg for us Sunday. However, while we're not big believers in the "zig-zag" theory, which is just 14-17 ATS during this playoff season, we do believe the Raptors will bounce back here. We'll take Toronto.

Nuggets -1/218 vs. Jazz, 8:30 pm ET, ABC

This series is tied at 3-3, following Denver's 119-107 Game 6 victory Sunday. The Nuggets fell behind by 10 points in the first quarter but used a 41-21 run to take the lead for good and held on from there for the outright victory as dogs of 2.5 points.

On the night, Denver shot 55 percent from the floor while holding Utah to 45 percent shooting.

The Jazz had a chance to close this series out last week, up three games to one and leading Game 5 by 15 points. But they pissed away that lead and lost, then lost Game 6, and now they're forced to play this Game 7. And one has to wonder how that might affect their mindset coming into Tuesday night.

The Nuggets are now 6-3 SU, 7-2 ATS against Utah this season.

Free NBA Picks: We're 4-2 ATS picking this series, going with Denver all six games. We've thought the Nuggets were the better team all along, and they lead the season series 6-3. Also, over nine meetings between these teams this season, Denver has out-rebounded the Jazz seven times. Plus, the Nuggets should have Big Mo on their side. We like Denver to take this Game 7.
