Indiana Pacers vs. Houston Rockets Point Spread Pick

The Indiana Pacers will have their hands filled trying to snap a rare two-game skid when they square-off against the red-hot Houston Rockets this Friday night at the Toyota Center. Tip-off for this inter-conference clash is set for 9:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Point Spread: Rockets -4
Total Line: 201
Pacers vs. Rockets Game Overview
The Pacers are suddenly feeling the Heat in their bid for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference after two straight losses dropped their lead over Miami in the standings to just a game and a half as of Wednesday nights action. They followed-up a 98-96 loss to Golden State as five-point home favorites with a stunning 109-87 loss to Charlotte on Wednesday night as 4.5-point favorites on the road. The loss to the Warriors snapped a five-game winning streak straight-up and Indiana is now a costly 1-8-1 against the spread in their last 10 outings. The total has gone OVER in six of its last nine games.
These two setbacks could simply be a case of the Pacers taking their eye off the prize or possibly looking too far ahead to this game. This is still one of the most balanced teams in the NBA with an efficient offense that knows how to spread the ball around complementing a shutdown defense that is ranked first in the league in points allowed (91.6). The Pacers now have six different players averaging at least 11 points per game with the recent addition of Evan Turner. They are shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from 3-point range.

Houston rolled over Orlando 101-89 as an eight-point road favorite to improve to 13-2 SU in their last 15 games; however it has been less than favorable for bettors with a 6-5 record ATS in its last 11 contests. The total has gone OVER in four of its last six games. The Rockets are a solid 24-7 SU at home this season while going 16-13-2 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in their last four home games.
This past offseason, Houston added Dwight Howard to the lineup in hopes he would become the final piece of the puzzle to a title run. Right now that plan is working to a tee with James Harden leading the way in points (24.5) and assists (5.7) while Howard works the boards with 12.5 rebounds while adding 19 PPG. The Rockets are ranked third in the NBA in scoring with 106.3 PPG and fifth in rebounds with 45.4. The only real issue with this team has been some inconsistency on defense that has allowed an average of 101.7 points to its opponents.

Indiana Pacers vs. Houston Rockets Betting Trends
The Pacers are just 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games, but they have covered in 14 of their last 17 games against a team from the Southwest Division. The total has gone OVER in three of their last four road games.
The Rockets are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a SU winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a SU winning record on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in 13 of their last 20 games following an ATS win.
Indiana is 4-0 both SU and ATS in the last four meetings including a 114-81 romp in late December as a six-point home favorite. The total stayed UNDER the 197-point line and it has stayed UNDER in four of the last six meetings.

Betting Pick
The Pacers have lost consecutive games just twice this season and they have never lost three in a row, but I am going with the Rockets to end that run on Friday night with the SU win that also covers the 4.5-point spread. Houston is playing at a high level and it will not pass-up this golden opportunity to post a statement win.
