Time: 2:15 PM ET | Location: Busch Stadium | Television: FSN
The Minnesota Twins open up a three game set in Boston versus the Red Sox on Monday night.
The Twins are coming off of 4-3 a loss to the Detroit Tigers their second consecutive loss to even their road trip record at 3-3.
The Red Sox dropped their latest 3-2 in extra innings to the Cleveland Indians to split their series. The loss dropped Boston to two games under .500 at home this season.
Money Line: Minnesota +144/Boston -149
9.5 Over +105/Under -115
Twins: KEVIN CORREIA (R) ERA: 5.60 W/L: 3-7
Red Sox: RUBBY DE LA ROSA (R) ERA: 3.93 W/L: 1-2
Twins' starter Kevin Correia is an admirable 2-2 with a 3.67 ERA on the road this season and is coming off of a sharp six scoreless innings over the Blue Jays in his last start as a visitor. He's started twice against Boston in his career with the Twins winning one last season with 5 1/3 innings of 3-run ball. He wasn't so successful this season getting chased by the Bosox after 4 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 runs in a 9-4 Minnesota loss.
Rubby De La Rosa will look for a repeat of his season opener three starts back where he shut out the Tampa Bay Rays over 7 innings. Since then he has struggled pitching back to back games where he pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed 4 runs.
Minnesota's bats continue to impress averaging 4.42 runs per game. They're also consistent scoring 3 or greater runs in 11 of their last 12 games.
The Bosox average a whisker under 4 runs per game which isn't among the bottom dwellers, but they have struggled in stretches like currently with 2 or fewer runs in 4 of their last 6.
Money line Pick
This is one of those games where I could make an argument for either team getting the win. That makes this a value play on the road team.
