National League playoffs contenders clash when the streaking Braves and Giants continue a four-game series down in Georgia Tuesday night. Rookie righty Spencer Strider takes the pill for Atlanta here against Anthony DeSclafani, just off the DL, for San Francisco.

Which way are we going here with our free baseball betting pick?

MLB Betting Odds

Tuesday's baseball betting lines opened Atlanta at -160 over San Francisco, with an over/under of 9.5 runs. Both those figures were holding steady in the early betting action.

Giants-Braves MLB Betting Preview

Atlanta grabbed the opener of this series Monday night 2-1 on a run-scoring base hit from Orlando Arcia with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Braves won Monday as -150 favorites on the dime line and covered against the run line at a price of +135.
Also, Monday's game played under a total of eight runs.
With Monday's win, Atlanta is 16-2 over its last 18 games! At 39-29 overall, the Braves still trail the first-place Mets by 5.5 games in the NL East, but they also own the No. 2 spot in the NL wild-card standings.
With Monday's loss, San Francisco is 2-3 over its last five games. At 37-29 overall, the Giants trail the first-place Dodgers by 3.5 games in the NL West but also own the No. 3 spot in the NL wild-card standings.
This series is the first meeting between these teams this season. Last year these teams split the season series 3-3.

Tuesday's Pitching Match-Up

Strider is 0/4 on quality starts this season, but he's been pretty good his last three times out. Last Wednesday, he held Washington to two runs and one hit through 5 2/3 innings, with two walks against 11 strikeouts, in an 8-2 Atlanta victory. And over his last three starts, he's allowed just three runs and seven hits through 15 1/3 innings, with eight walks against 24 whiffs.
The Braves are 3-1 with Strider this season, and he can claim some credit for that.
This will be Strider's first career action against San Francisco.
DeSclafani is making his first start since April after doing time on the DL with a bad ankle. He's 0/3 on quality starts this year, giving up nine runs and 22 hits over 13 1/3 total innings, with two walks against 13 K's.
The Giants are 2-1 with DeSclafani this year, but he had little to do with that.
Over two starts against the Braves last season, DeSclafani allowed five runs and 12 hits, including three home runs, through nine innings. San Francisco lost both those games.

Splits With the Sticks

San Francisco is batting .240 against right-handed pitching this season, with a .325 team OBP and a .395 team slugging percentage. The Giants have also been held to three runs or less six times over their last nine games.
Atlanta is slashing .241/.305/.424 against right-handed pitching. The Braves have also scored a total of just 11 runs over their last four games.

The Bullpens

The Atlanta bullpen owns a 2.89 ERA this season, 3rd-best in the Majors, and a 1.13 WHIP.
The San Francisco pen owns a 4.06 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP.

MLB Betting Trends

  • The Giants are 18-15 on the road this season and 24-22 against right-handed starters.
  • The Braves are 21-14 at home and 23-22 against RH starters.

Totals Report

  • The Over is 32-31 in Giants games this season.
  • The Over is 36-29 in Braves games.
  • The Over is 21-13 at Truist Park this season.
  • The Under is a combined 5-1 with Strider and DeSclafani this season.

Giants at Braves Prediction 6/21/22

We give Atlanta our baseball handicapping check-marks in both the pitching match-up and the bullpen comparison while calling the splits with the sticks a push. Plus, the Braves are just hot right now, winning games with offensive outbursts or 2-1 with runs in the bottom of the ninth. That price is a bit high for our taste, but we're betting Atlanta anyway Tuesday night.
