In their last game, the Dodgers closed out the NLDS beating the Atlanta Braves 6-2. The Dodgers scored six runs, five of them in the 6th and 7th innings, on eight hits and the Braves scored two runs on six hits.

The Dodgers have won seven of their last eight games and the only loss in that span came in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Braves. In their previous six games, they have only allowed 10 runs with six of those runs coming in the one loss in that span.

In their last game, the Brewers finished off their sweep of the Colorado Rockies in the NLDS beating them 6-0. The Brewers scored six runs on 12 hits, and the Rockies were held scoreless and had four hits.

The Brewers are back in the NLCS for the first time since 2011. They have won 11 straight, and their pitching has been superb in their last few games. In their previous five games they have only given up three earned runs, and they have two shutouts in their last two games.

Head-To-Head

This season the Dodgers won four of seven games against the Brewers. The Dodgers have also won five of their last seven games facing the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Pitching Match-Up

L.A: Clayton Kershaw (9-5 2.73 ERA)
Milwaukee: Gio Gonzalez (10-11 4.21 ERA)

Kershaw started Game 2 of the NLDS and had a stellar outing tossing eight scoreless innings and only giving up two hits in a 3-0 win over the Braves. The Dodgers have won his last eight starts, but in his previous two starts in the regular season he gave up eight earned runs in 11 innings. The Dodgers were 1-1 in Kershaw's two starts against the Brewers this season totaling 12 innings and giving up three earned runs. L.A. has won five of Kershaw's last seven starts facing the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Despite having a great outing in Game 2 of the NLDS Kershaw has had his issues in the playoffs and in 25 career post-season appearances, including 20 starts, he is 8-7 with an ERA of 4.08. In 14 career starts against the Brewers Kershaw is 6-5 with an ERA of 2.68. The Dodgers have won 36 of his last 51 road starts, and they have won 42 of his last 53 starts against a team with a winning record.

Gonzalez will be making his first appearance in the playoffs in this game and in his last start of the regular season he was solid not giving up any earned runs and only allowing three hits in five innings in an 11-0 win over the Detroit Tigers. The Brewers won all five of Gonzalez's starts after coming over in a trade with the Washington Nationals in late August. In three of Gonzalez's five starts for Milwaukee he did not give up any earned runs, and in the other two outings he gave up three earned runs in each.

In six career playoff starts, all with the Nationals, he did not register a decision. In six career starts against the Dodgers Gonzalez is 4-1 with an ERA of 1.89. This will be his first start against the Dodgers this season.

Los Angeles at Milwaukee MLB Prediction 10/12/2018

Kershaw has had issues in the playoffs in his career and did not end the regular season well giving up eight earned runs in his last two starts. However, he pitched like the Ace he is in Game 2 of the NLDS tossing eight scoreless innings in L.A.'s shutout win. He will be facing a Milwaukee team that is smoking hot and winners of 11 in a row. The Brewers pitching has been great in the playoffs, and their bullpen has been lights out. Gonzalez was solid for the Brewers since coming to them in a late-season trade, but he has not pitched since September 30th. The Dodgers will get to him for a few runs, and that is all the support Kershaw will need. He will have another great outing in these playoffs taming the Milwaukee bats. The Dodgers will get the win in this Game 1 snapping the Brewers 11-game winning streak.
