Flexen's been great as of late, Manaea not as much, but Manaea tossed a beauty in beating Seattle in that June 2 match-up. So we're calling this pitching match-up a push. Looking a bit more big-picture, we expect the A's to stay in the AL playoff race and the Mariners to fade. So we're betting Oakland here for our free baseball betting pick for Thursday.

And our other main baseball handicapping factors also come out to about even. Also, New York is without several lineup regulars. Also, following that 11-game losing skid we expect the Cubs to begin to bounce back. They're better than that. St. Louis, meanwhile, continues to puzzle us. Also, New York just puzzles us (and others) while the Astros are hot again. And when Houston gets hot, it rolls for weeks at a time. He has not been great in two starts against Los Angeles this season, but maybe he's learned something and can adjust. So we love the baseball betting value with San Francisco at the underdog price for Monday night.  

San Francisco is already 22 games above .500, but what will they finish at? The Giants are on a pace to win 105 games, but that's not gonna happen. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if they struggled to play .500 ball from here on out. And that thought suggests to us there may be good betting value fading San Francisco for the rest of the season. We give Urquidy the edge in the pitching match-up because of a rather stark home/road split difference with Cease. And while Chicago owns an advantage in the bullpen comparison, Houston owns an edge in the splits with the sticks. So we like the Astros here for our free MLB pick for Thursday.

We're not sure who's going to win this game, and we don't care because our pick is on the total. Neither of these starting pitchers deserves a betting recommendation, and both lineups are scoring runs recently. Plus, that Cincinnati bullpen is awfully generous.
