Lucas Giolito tossed a no-hitter his last time out, and he gets the call for the surging White Sox for the opener of an interesting three-game AL Central series with the Twins Monday night in Minneapolis. How are we playing this game with our free MLB pick?

MLB Betting Odds

Monday's MLB betting odds at Bet365</a> opened Chicago and Giolito at around -135 over Minnesota and Hill, with an over/under of 9 runs. Early betting action then dropped the ChiSox to -125.

Chicago could also be found getting around +115, giving the run and a half on the MLB run line.

White Sox vs. Twins Set-Up

Chicago just took two of three games at home from Kansas City over the weekend, winning Sunday's series rubber match 5-2 in 10 innings. Before that, the White Sox swept two games from Pittsburgh, and just before that, they took two of three from the Cubs. Going back a bit further, Chicago is 11-2 over its last 13 games.

At 21-13 overall, the ChiSox are now tied with Cleveland for first place in the AL Central, and they're only 2.5 games behind Tampa Bay in the battle for the best record in the American League.

The White Sox also lead the American League in run differential at +42.

Minnesota, meanwhile, just got swept three games in Detroit over the weekend, losing Sunday 3-2. Just before that, the Twins lost the last two games of a series in Cleveland. So Minnesota lugs a five-game losing skid home with it into Monday.

At 20-15 overall, the Twins trail the ChiSox and Indians by a game and a half in the AL Central, but if the playoffs started today, Minnesota would still be the No. 7 seed in the American League.

This series is the second meeting between these teams this season; the Twins took two of three games in Chicago a month ago.

Monday's Starting Arms

Veteran, lefty Hill, is 0/3 on quality starts this season, although a short leash plays into that. In his debut for his new team back in July, he tossed five innings of shutout ball against St. Louis. Then he went on the IL with a sore shoulder. He returned Aug. 19 and gave up four runs in less than three frames against Milwaukee, but last time out, last Tuesday, he held Cleveland to one run through five innings of a game Minnesota eventually lost 4-2.

The Twins are 1-2 with Hill this year, with the unders going 2-1.

This will be Hill's first start against the White Sox since 2016 when he was with Oakland, and that's a long time ago.

Giolito is 5/7 on quality starts this year. Last Tuesday, as you might have heard, he tossed a complete-game no-hitter against Pittsburgh, with just one walk and 13 strikeouts, in a 4-0 Chicago win. And just before that, he threw seven innings of shutout ball, with 13 whiffs, in a 9-0 Sox victory over Detroit.

Chicago is 4-3 with Giolito this year, with the unders going 4-3.

Over his last five starts against Minnesota, four last year, and one lousy outing early this season, Giolito allowed 16 runs and 21 hits, including eight homers, through 28 2/3 innings. The White Sox lost three of those five games.

Monday's Batting Splits

Chicago is batting .307 against left-handed pitching this season, with an ML-high .379 team OBP and an ML-high .594 team slugging percentage. So we rank this lineup as the best in Baseball in this split.

Minnesota is batting .239/.318/.430 against right-handed pitching this season. The Twins have also scored a total of just 14 runs over their last six games.

The Bullpens

The ChiSox bullpen owns a 4.07 ERA this season and a 1.26 WHIP.

The Minnesota pen owns a 3.78 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP.

MLB Betting Trends

The White Sox are a perfect 10-0 this season against left-handed starters.
The White Sox are 10-4 on the road this season.
The Twins are 16-8 against right-handed starters this season.
The Twins are 12-3 at home this season.

Totals Report

Overs are 17-16 in White Sox games this season.

Unders are a lopsided 23-10 in Twins games this season.

Overs are 3-0 in White Sox-Twins games this season.

Unders are 13-2 in games played at Target Field this season, but that looks like a trend due for a correction.
