Houston grabbed the opener of this series Tuesday night 8-2, winning as a -135 favorite on the MLB betting line and covering against the run line at a price of +115. Arizona, meanwhile, dropped three of four games at home to the Dodgers over the weekend.
At 6-4, the Astros trail division-leading Oakland by a half-game in the AL West.

And five days before that, he gave up three runs on four hits and three walks through just 3 2/3 innings of a 5-1 loss to San Diego.
Last year Ray hit just 11/33 on quality starts; Arizona played 20-13 with Ray.
This will be Ray's first start vs. Houston since 2018, when he held the Astros to two runs and two hits through 5 1/3 innings of a 4-2 Arizona win.
McCullers is one/two on quality starts this year. Last Friday, he gave up four runs on six hits and four walks through four innings against the Angels, although Houston won that game anyway 9-6. McCullers is coming back this season after missing all of last season recuperating from Tommy John surgery. This will be McCullers' first start against Arizona since 2016, and that's already a long time ago.
