Super Bowl 41 Game Recap

It was a Super Bowl of firsts and the Indianapolis Colts benefitted from all of them.

Peyton Manning finally proved himself a champion, moving the favored Colts through the first rainy Super Bowl field to a 29-17 win over the Chicago Bears. The Colts had been favored by 6.5 points and easily covered the spread.

It was also the first battle of black head coaches, with Tony Dungy beating his friend Lovie Smith. And it was the first Super Bowl to kick off with a KO return for a touchdown. Predictably, the electric Devin Hester turned the trick for the Bears on the opening kickoff.

Much had been made of the Colt defense during the year, the unit that ranked near the bottom in yardage allowed and was dead last for a time against the run. But it was a different story in the playoffs and a stout defense, combined with Manning's brilliance made the difference.

By the time Kelvin Hayden picked off Rex Grossman and returned it 56 yards for a score in the fourth quarter, the game on a sloppy Miami field was over.

It was the franchise's first Super Bowl since 1970 when the Colts resided in Baltimore.

The UNDER play saved the day for sportsbooks, who saw more betting action on the victorious Colts.

Final Score: 29-17
Winning Side Bet: Indy -6.5
