Super Bowl 35 Game Recap If Super Bowl XXXIV proved that offense wins titles, then Super Bowl XXXV proved that defense wins titles. Baltimore's defense was dominant all year and they gave up just 152 yards, forced five turnovers and made four sacks in a 34-7 rout of the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. The defense, led by Ray Lewis, Peter Boulware and Jamie Sharper, picked off four Kerry Collins passes and Raven quarterback Trent Dilfer needed only to complete a dozen passes in the rout. The low-scorng affair erupted for a minute in the third quarter. After a Raven interception for a score, the Giants cut the lead when Ron Dixon returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. Not to be outdone, Jermaine Lewis raced 84 yards on the next kickoff for a 24-7 lead. There were three touchdowns in 36 seconds, a Super Bowl record. Jamal Lewis powered his way to 27 carries and 102 yards, while Lewis - who had been charged with murder a year earlier in the wake of a nightclub killing - was named Super Bowl XXXV MVP. Final Score: 34-7
