Super Bowl 33 Game Recap
John Elway came back for a final hurrah with Denver and he got it.
In his final game, the five-time Super Bowl starter threw for 336 yards and ran for a touchdown as the Broncos defended their Super Bowl crown, beating Atlanta 34-19 in Super Bowl XXXIII.
The Falcons led early and had a chance to extend it, but Morten Anderson missed a rare field goal and the veteran Elway responded to the miss with an 80-yard touchdown pass to Smith.
Supported by running back Terrell Davis and a cast of stellar receivers, Elway was named Super Bowl XXXIII MVP.
Denver led 31-6 at one point, before Tim Dwight returned a kickoff for a score. The Falcons got into scoring position red zone seven times, but came away with just one touchdown and a pair of field goals.
Elway completed 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards, while Davis carried 25 times for 102 yards. Smith made five catches for 152 yards, while Chris Chandler who guided the Falcons to a surprise Super Bowl XXXIII berth, was 19 of 35 for 219 yards, but was intercepted three times.
Final Score: 34-19
