Super Bowl 24 Game Recap

This one was hyped as a mismatch and it didn't take long to prove the hype.

San Francisco scored on six of its first eight drives, Jerry Rice caught three touchdown passes and the 49ers won their fourth Super Bowl championship with a 55-10 victory over Denver.

The 55 points in Super Bowl XXIV smashed the previous Super Bowl record for points - 46 by Chicago in Super Bowl XX. The 49ers went OVER the closing total of 48 all by themselves.

San Francisco quarterback Joe Montana was named the Super Bowl XXIV MVP, his third such honor. He completed 22 of 29 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns, three to last year's MVP Jerry Rice.

The Super Bowl XXIII MVP grabbed seven Montana passes for 148 yards and the 49ers dominated every facet of the game: first downs (28-12), net yards (461-167), and time of possession (39:31-20:29).

The 49er defense also picked off John Elway, who became a three-time Super Bowl loser, twice in leading the rout.

Final Score: 55-10
Winning Side Bet: San Francisco -12
Winning Total Bet: Over 48
