Super Bowl XI RecapBetting Odds:
Super Bowl 11 Game Recap John Madden is synonymous with the NFL broadcast booth and the video games that bear his name. But in 1977, Madden was coach of the feared Oakland Raiders and he guided them to victory in Super XI at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The Raiders won their first NFL title with a 32-14 romp over the Minnesota Vikings, who lost their fourth Super Bowl. Oakland gained 429 yards of offense, highlighted by running back Clarence Davis and his 137 rushing yards and by wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff, whose four sticky-fingered receptions earned him Super Bowl XI MVP honors. After a mistake-filled first quarter, Oakland scored on three straight possessions in legging out a 16-0 halftime lead in Super Bowl XI. Dave Casper and Pete Banaszak scored first-half touchdowns for Oakland as Ken Stabler guided the offense and all-stars like Jack Tatum and Ted Hendricks leading the way on defense. Fran Tarkenton got the Vikings back into the game with a strike to wide receiver Sammy White that made it 19-7. But a pair of picks - including a 75-yard return by Willie Brown - snuffed the Vikings. Final Score: 32-14
