NFL Preseason Betting

The dogs ruled Week 1 of the NFL preseason, but the favorites struck back in Week 2. In the opening week of the preseason the favorites turned out to be anything but, after posting a 6-10 record ATS. Last week the favorites turned in a better performance with a 9-7 mark ATS. This translates into a 15-17 mark overall.

The home team was the oddsmakers' team of choice once again this week, as they were favored in 15 of 16 games. The favored homers posted an 8-7 record ATS in those games. The visitors were only favored in one game this week and they were able to cover the spread.

Things looked pretty much the same straight up this week. The favorites posted the exact same mark, 9-7, straight up as they did ATS. Combined with the Week 1 straight up record for the favourites, the chalky teams are a combined 19-16 SU during the preseason.

Early odds for Week 3 have the home team as the oddsmakers pick once again. Out of the 16 games in Week 3, the home team has been chosen as the early favorite in 15 of them.

Total bettors who hoped the abundance of UNDERs from Week 1 would continue didn't exactly get their wish. The scoring started to climb a little bit in Week 2 which resulted in a 7-8-1 over/under record. When combined with the over/under mark from Week 1 (4-11-1), this results in an 11-19-2 combined over/under mark for the preseason so far.

In the 16 games that made up Week 2 of the preseason, 590 points were scored. This was up from only 520 points in the 16 games in Week 1. This raised the averaged combined score per game from 32.5 to 36.8. The average over/under mark for Week 2 was 35.3. That was down from an average of 37.2 from Week 1, which accounts for the rise in OVERs
