Odds to Win 2014 NBA Eastern Conference
The Heat have the lowest odds to win the Eastern Conference and while that is no surprise it would be one if they did not face the Pacers for the second straight season in the conference finals. Future lines were provided by Bovada.
Miami Heat Odds: 1.60
The Heat are still led by the Big 3 and LeBron James may be having his best season ever, as he not only ranks 3rd in the league in scoring, but also ranks 3rd in FG%. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are also playing well, but Wade and his gimpy knees are an issue. It looks as if the gamble to pick up the troubled Michael Beasley has plaid off, as he is averaging over 10 ppg. The supporting cast has been solid and it may be key that they move up in the standings to score the top spot in the East to have home court in the playoffs.
Indiana Pacers Odds: +140
The Pacers have the leagues best record and they are led by the leagues top-ranked defense. Paul George proved last season was no fluke, as he is now a legit superstar. SG Lance Stephenson is getting it done as the 2nd scorer and C Roy Hibbert is a rock for the Pacers great D. They have been a thorn in the side of the Heat for the last few years, but have lost to them in the last 2 seasons playoffs and unless than changes this season they will not win the East.
All of the other teams in the East have long shot odds.
Toronto Raptors Odds: +2000
The Raptors with the 3rd lowest odds to win the East? They have the 4th best record in the East, but they are only 1-game over .500. Yeah, the Eastern Conference is not stacked. DeMar DeRozan is averaging over 21 ppg and the team is actually playing better since they traded Rudy Gay.
Chicago Bulls Odds: +3500
The Bulls lost Derrick Rose for the season, yet again, and after dealing with that blow and struggling for a while they have recently won 5 in a row and 8 of their last 10. Trading Luol Deng though may have shown they are rebuilding, but the team should still make the playoffs.
New York Knicks/New Jersey Nets Odds: +4500
Both the Knicks and Nets are in the same boat, as they each got off to horrid starts, but they have rebounded to, at least, get back in the playoff picture. However, for the Nets Brook Lopez is out for the year and for the Knicks Amare Stoudamire has not been nearly the player he was before his knee injuries.
Atlanta Hawks Odds: +5000
The Hawks have the 3rd lowest odds in the East, but still trail the 2nd place Heat by 7.5 games. They are a good all around team ranking 15th in the league in both offense and defense and Paul Millsap was a good pickup, but there are not a deep team and leading scorer Al Horford is likely out for the season with an injury.
Washington Wizards Odds: +5000
The Wizards have a bright future with 2 young stars in John Wall and Bradley Beal, but they are still a few games under .500 and they are a weak rebounding squad.
