Denny Hamlin broke through the pack at New Hampshire this past Sunday to post his first Cup Series victory of the season. My top value pick at +1000 betting odds was Kyle Larson and he almost came through with a second-place run followed by Martin Truex Jr. in third.

The following is a look at a few of the top favorites to win this Sunday’s race at Indianapolis along with my top value pick based on betting odds provided by at 5Dimes

Race Favorites

It is becoming very common to see Martin Truex Jr. listed among the top favorites to win this season. He is at the top of the list this week at +350 betting odds on the heels of last week’s third-place run at New Hampshire. After guiding his No. 78 Toyota to three point-race victories and another four runs inside the top five, this team is at the top of the current Cup Series standings with 758 points. His most recent trip to Victory Lane was just two weeks ago at Kentucky. Truex Jr. finished eighth in last year’s run at Indianapolis and his best career finish here was fourth in 2015.

Kyle Busch has raced extremely well this season with the third-most points in the standings (650), but he has yet to cross the finish line first behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota. His betting odds to end this drought on Sunday have been set at +400. You know that Busch has a chance to win anytime he gets behind the wheel in any race he runs, but I am beginning to think he might be snake bit this season with seven runs inside the top five, but still no wins. His past track record at the Brickyard includes a victory in this race last season after winning it the season before, so this could be the week it all comes together for this team.

Another driver that has become a regular on the favorite’s list this season is Kyle Larson. That is why I jumped all over his longer odds last week at New Hampshire. His betting odds to win this Sunday are set much lower at +450 and there is still quite a bit of value in that number. He has already won twice this season and last week’s second-place effort was the seventh time he finished runner-up in a point-race event this year. He is also second in the standings with 720 total points. This will be Larson’s fourth trip around the Brickyard in a Cup Series event and he been able to place inside the top 10 in each of his first three runs.

Brickyard 400 Prediction

The next generation of NASCAR drivers have really stepped up their game this season led by Larson and this week it could be time for another young gun to make his first trip to Victory Lane racing at the sport’s highest level. I have been a big Chase Elliott fan since he took over the reins of the No. 24 Chevrolet and I really like the value in his +1200 odds to win this race. He has been stalking the field all year long with six Top 5 runs and he is holding down the sixth spot in the standings with 587 total points. All he needs is a break or two on Sunday to finally cross that finish line first. This will be Elliott’s third career run at Indianapolis in a Cup Series event.
