Texas: A.J. Griffin (3-1, 3.81 ERA)
Los Angeles: Nick Tropeano (3-2, 3.12 ERA)

A.J. Griffin goes for the Rangers tonight and in his last outing he was tagged up for six earned runs in five innings in a 15-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The Rangers have lost two of his last three starts. Griffin faced the Angels in his first start of the season giving up three earned runs in six innings in a 7-3 Texas win. In his last four starts he has gone 18 innings and given up 11 earned runs. The Rangers are 6-2 in Griffin’s last 8 starts.

Nick Tropeano gets the starting nod for the Angels and in his last outing he was solid only giving up one earned run in six innings, but the offense did not help out much is a 3-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The Angels have lost his last three starts. Tropeano had one of his better starts of the season in his lone outing against the Rangers not giving up any earned runs in six innings of work in a 2-0 L.A. win in late May. The Angels are 6-1 in Tropeano’s last 7 starts facing a team with a winning record.

Texas Rangers vs. L.A. Angels Prediction

The Rangers’ starter A.J. Griffin hasn’t completed six innings in his last five starts and comes into this game off of one his weakest outings this season. The Angels hand the ball to Nick Tropeano who hasn’t received a decision in his last three starts all lost by Los Angeles, but he did pitch adequately in all three. He looked really good in Texas back in late May shutting the Rangers out over 6 2/3 frames, but Griffin was no slouch either back in April on this same field going six innings allowing three runs. The Halos are hot, but the Rangers hold the edge on the season series and are the value play here.
