CFL Wagering Odds - Week 11 Canadian Football League Game Previews
The CFL starts the second half of the regular season this week with a trio of games. Calgary and Montreal get things started on Thursday as the Alouettes look for revenge after the Stamps handed them their first loss of the season a few weeks back. This week's Friday night contest pits resurgent Toronto against injury-plagued Winnipeg. On Saturday, Saskatchewan faces Hamilton for the second week in a row.
Calgary at Montreal - Thursday, 7:30 pm EDT
The Montreal Alouettes started the season with seven straight wins, but they've lost their last two games to drop to 7-2 on the season. Last week Montreal was slammed 31-6 by Toronto as a 5.5-point favorite. Anthony Calvillo had his worst game of the season, passing for only 194 yards with five interceptions.
The Stampeders were off last week, but should be familiar with the Alouettes considering that they took on Montreal back in Week 9. Calgary edged Montreal 27-24 as a 3-point underdog in that game after kicker Sandro DeAngelis connected on a 53-yard field goal as time expired.
The Week 9 matchup between Montreal and Calgary was the only matchup this year between the two teams. The Alouettes are favored again in the rematch by 4.5 points.
Toronto at Winnipeg - Friday, 8 pm EDT
The Argonauts finally got on track last week with a 31-6 victory over Montreal as a 5.5-point underdog. Damon Allen threw for 200 yards with a touchdown and an interception. A healthy John Avery rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The Argos have now won two straight and can get back to the .500 mark with a win this week.
The Blue Bombers were off last week and they needed it after getting blasted by B.C. 32-5 as a 4.5-point underdog back in Week 9. Mike Quinn filled in for injured starting quarterback Kevin Glenn and struggled while throwing for 147 yards with four interceptions. The Bombers also fumbled five times in that game, which amounted to nine turnovers. It looks like Quinn will get the start again this week with Glenn still out with a knee injury. Star receiver Milt Stegall is also sidelined with cracked ribs.
The Blue Bombers and Argonauts have clashed twice already this season with Winnipeg winning both matchups as an underdog. The Argos are favored again, opening as a 2.5-point favorite.
Saskatchewan at Hamilton - Saturday, 7 pm, EDT
The Roughriders and Tiger-Cats faced off in Week 10 when Saskatchewan knocked off Hamilton 46-15 as an 8-point home favorite. In the rematch, the Tiger-Cats will look for a better result at home.
In last week's win Marcus Crandell got the start for Saskatchewan and ran in for a touchdown before leaving the game with a dislocated elbow. Rocky Butler came in and passed for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Roughriders starting quarterback Kerry Joseph is expected back for the rematch after missing last week's game with a bruised knee.
The Tiger-Cats used three quarterbacks in last week's loss, but none of them led the offense effectively. Jason Maas got the start, but got the hook in the second half after passing for 131 yards with a touchdown and a fumble that Saskatchewan ran back for a touchdown. His replacement Kevin Eakin passed for only 49 yards with an interception, while third-stringer Richie Williams threw for 60 yards.
The oddsmakers expect the Roughriders to win the rematch as well after setting them as a 5-point favorite.
