Tom Brady led all NFL quarterbacks last season with 4,110 passing yards, and he and Trent Green were the only two QBs to throw for over 4,000 yards in 2005. Brett Favre, Carson Palmer, and Eli Manning finished third through fifth in passing yards last year, with Kerry Collins sixth and Peyton Manning seventh. Collins' spot in Oakland has been inherited by Aaron Brooks, who threw for 2,882 yards as the Saints' starting QB last season. The elder Manning managed to pick up 3,747 passing yards in 2005.
Manning is also the oddsmakers' pick to throw the most passing touchdowns during the 2006 season. The Colts pivot, who finished second in that category to Carson Palmer with 28 TD tosses last season, is listed at 7/2 odds to come out on top this season. Brady was third on the list with 26 touchdown passes last season, while the quartet of Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Matt Hasselbeck, and Jake Delhomme had 24 scoring tosses apiece. Brooks managed only 13 TD passes in New Orleans, but now has Randy Moss.
Finally, Manning is also the favorite to have the highest quarterback rating this season, and that's a category that the Indy QB actually led last year. Manning had a QB rating of 104.1 in 2005, edging Palmer (101.1) and Ben Roethlisberger (98.6) for the title. The favorite is pegged at 7/5 odds this time around.
