Football Betting Fix
It's been good to be an Austin Wranglers fan so far this season, as they're the only team in the Arena Football League that remains unbeaten after four weeks of play. However, fandom aside, it's been even better to be a supporter of the Dallas Desperados and lay bets on their ability to cover the spread.
While the Desperados have been tagged with a loss this season, they're a perfect 4-0 against-the-spread. The only other unbeaten team against-the-spread through four games are the Nashville Kats, who sport a 3-0-1 ATS record. Austin, Philadelphia, and Colorado, as seen in the chart below, all have one ATS loss.
Team SU ATS
Dallas 3-1 4-0
Nashville 3-1 3-0-1
Austin 4-0 3-1
Philadelphia 3-1 3-1
Colorado 3-1 2-1-1
Georgia 2-2 2-2
G-Rapids 2-2 2-2
Kansas City 1-3 2-2
New York 2-2 2-2
Orlando 3-1 2-2
Tampa Bay 2-2 2-2
Chicago 2-2 1-2-1
Las Vegas 1-3 1-2-1
Arizona 1-3 1-3
Columbus 1-3 1-3
Los Angeles 1-3 1-3
San Jose 1-3 1-3
Utah 1-3 1-3
And those five top ATS teams have also been five of the league's top six teams straight-up. The Orlando Predators are 3-1 SU on the season, but only 2-2 ATS because they failed to cover the 8.5-point spread in their win over the Kansas City Brigade back in Week 2.
In fact, there is little discrepancy between the Arena Football League's SU and ATS records through four weeks of the schedule. Ten of the league's 18 teams have identical records in these categories, and four others are a single PUSH away from having their marks matching up exactly.
Only Dallas, Austin, Kansas City, and Orlando have SU and ATS records as much as a game apart. But watch for some separation to start occurring after this week's slate of games, and for Arena Football wagering to get more interesting.
Week 5 of the schedule kicks off with Arizona visiting Columbus and Georgia hosting Kansas City on Friday. On Saturday, it's Austin at Tampa Bay, Grand Rapids at Nashville, Las Vegas at Dallas, and Utah at Los Angeles. Sunday sees Colorado at Philadelphia, San Jose at Chicago, and Orlando at New York.
