A day after visiting the President at the White House the Boston Bruins continue their journey through the nation's capital tonight when they take on the Capitals at the Verizon Center.
The Bruins last took to the ice on Sunday when the clipped Philadelphia 6-5 in a shootout as a -135 favorite. Tim Thomas, who made waves for passing up on the White House visit, allowed five goals for the first time this season. Despite the win the Bruins are a sluggish 5-4 in their last nine games.
The Capitals will be without Captain Alexander Ovechkin tonight, as he sits out the first game of a three game suspension levied for a hit on Pittsburgh's Zbynek Michalek. Already missing Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green the Caps will be severely shorthanded. The Caps have lost their last two games and have only one win in their last four.
This is the first matchup between the Bruins and Capitals this season. In the last five meetings between the two Eastern conference powerhouses the Bruins hold the edge with four wins. That includes winning two of their last three at Washington.

The red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins carry their six-game winning streak into St. Louis tonight versus the also surging Blues. The Pens won their sixth straight on Sunday after edging Washington 4-3 in OT as a -170 favorite. Evgeni Malkin netted the winner in OT giving, extending his goal scoring streak to six games. During the Pens streak Malkin has nine goals and 13 points.
The Blues had their four-game winning streak snapped on Monday night following a 3-1 loss to Detroit as a +130 road underdog. Back home tonight the Blue are a -125 favorite. At Home St. Louis have won four in a row and seven of their last eight.
In Pittsburgh back in November the Blues defeated the Penguins 3-2 as a +170 underdog. St. Louis has won their last two versus the Pens and they're 5-2 in their last seven. Total bettors should know that the Under is 7-1-2 in the last 10 matchups between St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

Kyle Turris plays his first game in Phoenix tonight since the Coyotes shipped him to Ottawa just over a month ago. Since Turris arrived the Senators have been rolling with a 12-4-2 record in 18 games. Turris has also started living up to his potential with four goals and 13 points in those 18 games.
The Coyotes have been sliding down the Western Conference standings lately with only one win in their last seven games. They dropped their third in a row Saturday night after falling to Tampa Bay 4-3 as a -160 favorite.
The Senators have owned the Coyotes for years with a 6-1 record in their last seven matchups and an8-2 mark in their last 10. Ottawa looks to be a worthwhile pick tonight as a +125 road underdog.
